This was much more interesting than I was expecting it to be. We loved the history of the Jayhawk, the Olympics exhibit, and timeline of sports at KU. We'll be back with our kids.

It's a must see for Fans of KU Athletics. The Booth Family Hall of Athletics is an exceptional Shrine to KU Athletics and is located on the eastern section of the historic Phog Allen Fieldhouse on the KU Campus. There are many, many display cases filled with memorabilia, photos, and hanging displays that pays homage to the great and storied athletic traditions and major successes that is the University of Kansas. Seeing the KU Basketball National Championship trophies is great as are the stories and history displayed telling about those championships, as well as Olympic World Championships won by KU in basketball, track and field athletes throughout the years. KU Athletes and teams in a myriad of sports and their major successes are also on display. The 2008 Orange Bowl Championship trophy in football is one of my favorites! Seeing the story of one of the greatest milers of all time, Jim Ryun is a must see too. Another of my favorites is the story of Dr James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, bringing the game to KU and being it's first coach, as well as the exploits of his teams, and how he and Phog Allen made KU the dominant power of jntercollegiate basketball in the US, and how their accomplishments have kept KU as a true blue blood even in today's game! The Booth Family Hall of Athletics is very well done. If you want to see the actual and "original" handwritten rules of basketball by Dr. Naismith...they are literally about 100 feet North of the Booth Hall, in a building (attached to Phog Allen Fieldhouse) called the De Bruce Center. You can see and read the rules as well as listen to Dr Naismith give an early radio interview about basketball. The recording is the only known voice recording of Dr. Naismith!

This is a must stop for the history of KU Fans and even on KU Fans. It was great to look at the original rules of basketball. Also had some activities to show your basketball skills. Just a good way to causally spend a couple of hours.

If you love college basketball, you really need to visit this museum about the game and many of it's historic greats. The inventor of the game was a coach here with exhibits and statues plus lots more to see. Allocate extra time for your visit. Note that James Naismith's gravesite is also in Lawrence and may be of interest.

Here is the story of the beginning of basketball, the Phog magic, KU's place in basketball history, and why Jayhawkers love the round ball. It is an amazing picture of the special players who have come to the Heartland of Kansas and found their place in its basketball story.

This a great museum if you love basketball. The history of the game and the Kansas Jayhawks is extraordinary. I might be a little biased because I am a KU alumni but it is a must see for a basketball fan. It is next door to historic Allen Field House, home of KU Basketball, on the beautiful grounds of the University of Kansas. When you are done with the tour, take a walk down Mass. Street to enjoy the scenery and unique bars and eateries that Lawrence has to offer.#LFK

Great displays on the history of KU sports, including Glenn Cunningham, Gale Sayers, Lynette Woodward, and Wilt Chamberlin. NCAA basketball trophies are on display. Be sure to see Naismith’s original basketball rules at the DeBruce Center. Allen Fieldhouse court may or may not be open for viewing during your visit. Free admission. Closed on Sundays. Coffee shop and gift shop on site.

The rules are located in the DeBruce Center which is just to the north of Allen Field House. While it is possible to enter the exhibit from the second level of Allen, during non-game days that entrance might not be open but all you have to do is walk outside and enter the DeBruce Center and then take the stairs or elevator to the second level.
