The Stauth’s traveled all over the world and began establishing this museum before they passed away. Unfortunately for them they never saw it completed, but lucky for us they endowed it with funds and stipulated it must be free. The staff here are wonderful and informative. The museum isn’t huge, but the story of the Stauth couple is awesome and inspiring. They have a small kids section, a section about the Stauth’s world travels, a small bronze statue display, a hunters collection and a rotating display. What we really enjoyed was the people running the museum. They were friendly and knew tons about the displays!

The Stauth Museum is small-town America personified! The charm of the museum is that it's off the beaten path and the journey to travel there is part of the joy of the trip. We drove to the Stauth Museum from Tucumcari NM and had a wonderful day driving through rural small towns complete with large feed mills, etc. The Stauths traveled around the world several time before many of the places they visited since became commercialized. The photos they took and items they collected which are housed in this small museum are fascinating. I only wish it was possible to display more of these items. Although it was a bit of an effort to get there, the destination was more than worth the journey.

Travelling through Montezuma we decided to stop and check out this museum. The museum is very interesting with a lot of great and unique items! The staff is SUPER friendly AND... it's FREE! This is a great place to stop that won't take up too much time!

All the collections from around the world were so interesting, the guided tour was so informative! Our favorite exhibit was the display of animals from around the world . Worth the stop !!

Both places are terrific. The food was delicious-wonderful homemade pies. The presentation of our history is very thought catching & brings back so many memories

Father and Son trip to New Mexico. If you have not been here, you are missing a fine museum. Get a shake at the Montezuma Pharmacy too.
The cardboard creations by Jessie Montes were a highlight along with miniatures by Wes & Rachelle Siegrist, were a fine example of the traveling or temporary exhibits this museum brings in.
In addition to the Stauth collection of items and photos from their travels, there is the Wall Western Collection of 23 bronzes, and a room where bridge is played, at the request of the Stauths
Sam (13) nothing boring, cardboard creations were incredible, and the items from the Stauth's travels were intriguing,
Dad, we will be back. So will you if you visit.

How incredible that this little town has a museum on the travelling Smithsonian route. Even the Stauth and Fry exhibits are worth the trip!

I have been here with my children for many exhibits. The quilt exhibit was my favorite, so many beautiful works of art. I am thrilled we have a place to showcase talent in a small community.

Stopped by the museum on my way to Lubbock. The docent was happy to show me around and talk about the history of the artifacts. The museum was started by Claude and Donnie Stauth. This couple traveled to 95 countries during their lives. This museum shows so many artifacts from those countries, such as coins, spears, jewelry. worshiping idols, persian carpets, and so much more. There is a lot of culture in this museum. There is also a wildlife gallery from a local hunter, as well as a temporary gallery. When I visited, the temporary gallery had contemporary paintings from a local artist. This museum is free, and worth a visit.
