I was on my way back home and made a visit at the place. The place is okay, but lacks major basic amenities. Not fully developed yet. No washrooms, eating outlets, sitting area, play area, etc.

Etwa 50 km hinter Vaishali, wenn man Richtung Kushinagar fährt, erhebt sich auf der rechten Site der Straße der gewaltige Keseriya Stupa, der für uns der eindrucksvollste aller Stupen im sogenannten „buddhist sector“ ist.
Dies liegt sowohl an den Ausmaßen, als auch an der Struktur dieses aus gebrannten Ziegeln errichteten Stupas. Er besteht aus sechs Terrassen, die unteren beiden Terrassen weisen Vorsprünge auf, was absolut ungewöhnlich ist. Der Durchmesser der Struktur beträgt 123 Meter, die Gesamthöhe beträgt etwa 32 Meter. Im oberen Bereich befindet sich eine runde Trommel, die 10 m hoch ist und einen Durchmesser von 22 m hat. Auf der einen Seite des Stupas sind noch Reste von sitzenden, annähernd lebensgroßen Buddha Statuen aus Stuck zu erkennen. Außerhalb des Stupas befinden sich die Behausungen der Mönche.
Auch dieser Stupa wurde mehrfach überbaut. Die erste Phase stammt wohl aus dem 2. Jahrhundert, die letzte Bauphase aus der Zeit der Gupta Dynastie, d.h. Dem 5. oder 6. Jahrhundert. Für die Buddhisten ist dieser Platz deshalb etwas Besonderes, weil Buddha hier an diesem Ort seine Reisschale verschenkt haben soll, die dann die Spitze des Stupas krönte. Der Ort wurde um 1200 verlassen, als die muslimischen Herrscher des Sultanats von Delhi die buddhistische Kultur zerstörten und auslöschten.

Sur la route entre Patna et Kushinagar. Dernière étape de Bouddha avant le lieu ou il s'est endormi définitivement. C'est la que paraît-il il s'est coupé les cheveux une dernière fois. Bon, c'est un beau et grand stupa, un peu perdu au milieu de nulle part.

We were amazed & overwhelmed to see this Marvel. It's 1400 feet in circumference and app 150 meters tall having six terraces with almost 40% of excavation yet to be completed. What amazed me is the fact that borobudur seems to have drawn inspiration from this. A vihar has been excavated nearby too. It's a must-see.

This is one of the most atmospheric places in the world. We visited at night, and then again at sunrise - the life-size ruined statues on the stupa hint at the previous grandeur of the place. Part of the stupa and the grounds around are being excavated, and there is a small office where the staff and archaeological team are very friendly and can answer your questions. Be sure to visit Bharat Biryani nearby - one of the best and cleanest places to eat and freshen up by Western standards (three of us travelled from the UK)

お釈迦様はお亡くなりになる前の最後の旅でバイシャリに立ち寄られました。バイシャリを発つとき、信者は別れを惜しみここまで来ました。お釈迦様とバイシャリの信者はここでお別れをしました。後世このストゥーパが作られました。このストゥーパには沢山の仏龕がありますかが8世紀頃多くの仏像はイスラム教徒によって頭が無いなど傷つけられています。

I was astonished at the sight of this Stupa as well as disappointed. This is the world's larget Buddha Stupa and is not at all maintained properly. There are no guards or what so ever and people have written their names on the Stupa. When we were there, two aunties were taking the bricks of the Stupa. Upon which I told them that they are committing a crime and can be jailed for it. They just threw the bricks and ran away listening to that! This was the most bizzare experience I have had at any historical place.
However, the Stupa is a wonderful architectural beauty to see and enjoy. It was raining when we reached there and no shops were present except a small tea stall. We had our breakfast in a hotel near by.
Overall it was a great experience witnessing the world's largest Stupa.

Buddhist stupa in Kesariya dates to the Gupta Dynasty between 200 AD and 750 AD and may have been associated with the 4th century ruler Raja Chakravarti. The stupa is the largest in the world, with a height of 104 ft, and attracts lots of Buddhist pilgrims from around the world. Excavated in 1998, the stupa is rare example of Buddhist architecture. The stupa was built to commemorate the end-life of Lord Buddha.
One side of the stupa facing the entrance is excavated. The second side, left unchanged, and resembles a high hill. Everything around is very clean. Next to the stupa policemen are on duty. Every day there are many Buddhist pilgrims here. I met pilgrims from Korea, Japan and China.

The Kesariya Stupa in Bihar's East Champaran district is considered to be the largest Stupa in the world. Buddha is supposed to have spent some time here.
We visited it while we were on a road trip from Lucknow to Patna, while passing Kesariya.
It is a mammoth structure. Very impressive to look at, and a protected monument
