Il Centro culturale Acadiano è una struttura senza fini di lucro, creata a Lafayette per diffondere le basi e l'evoluzione della cultura acadiana sul suolo della Louisiana.

Nicely laid out museum. The story and artifacts from the Acadian migration to Canada, their struggles as France and England fought for control of Canada, and the eventual eviction and relocation to the US. Make sure to see the film in the theater. It's a nice summary of the history.

all you want to know about acadian culture is here. the staff is very friendly and let us in before the place even opened. we were so grateful because it was so cold outside. they even started the film for us where we didn't have to wait until the regular time. we were a bit disappointed that the cajun musician was cancelled due to a day camp but still enjoyed the rest of the place.

I was excited to learn about this National Park. I learned so much about the Acadian People, their culture and history in just about an hour. The highlight is the video, but the Self-guided museum supplements the film. The film was produced in 1994, so it's a little dated from technology standpoint. But the history doesn't change. Excellent account of the people who started out in Nova Scotia during the 17th century and ended up in Louisiana. It made me hungry to learn more about the area and it's people. The gift shop is stocked with many selections of books to help add to the film. I highly recommend spending an hour at the Acadian Cultural Center. And it's FREE!

I brought a large group of college students from Texas to this museum on Oct. 15. We watched a historical film on the Acadian expulsion from Nova Scotia, bought many souvenirs from the gift shop, and spent some time exploring the many informative exhibits in the main part of the museum. These cover many topics of the history, current life and culture of the Cajun people. It contains priceless photos depicting regular people and well-known Cajun artists. I loved the inclusion of French and English in the exhibits.

A great starting point if you want to know the history of the area & the Acadians (Cajuns). Movie was great and so was the displays, they teach about the struggles of these amazing people. Well done.

Good documentary video of Acadian history. Google had informed us that the site was closed for the day when we arrived in Lafayette. However, when I checked its website later in the afternoon, it states the center is open. Hence, we called to confirm. The ranger in charge was accommodating.

This small US Park Service facility is hidden in a forested part of Lafayette. A 35-minute movie chronicles the plight of the Adadian people and how they settled and prospered in southern Louisiana. The beautiful museum details life both in the past and the present. The park staff was very helpful, and the historian was ready to discuss all aspects of Acadian life.

Good movie on history of Acadians plus very knowledgeable employee who spent a lot of time providing us with additional information on Acadians when told him due to Ancestry found out husband had Acadian ancestors & knew nothing about this chapter of our country's history.

Everyone who lives or is a visitor to Acadiana, must come and see the history of the Cajuns; Over 200 years masterfully set at this museum, along with a short film to highlight their journey! The staff is not only friendly but extremely knowledgeable about the history! And it is FREE! Best I have experienced in all my travels! A must on your agenda of things to do!!

The Acadian Cultural Center is open Tues- Fri 9- 4;30 and 8;30- 12 noon on Saturdays. It is closed Sun & Mon. It is free. They play a film on the history of the Acadian people and how they came here and would eventually be known as Cajuns. The film plays for 35 mins every hour on the hour. It is dark and dramatic, so it is really not a film kids will enjoy.
