There are not enough superlatives for this place.
Worth every penny of the admission cost.
Absolutely stunning themed gardens which are immaculately cared for.
The design and implementation of the entire place is simply wonderful.
We have been to many Botanical gardens and Arboretums and this is up there with the best of them.

This is an excellent place. My wife loves plants. It was a nice place to explore, and they made it enjoyable, given you needed to visit the five trolls spread throughout the gardens. It was a nice place and well-maintained. The staff was friendly, and it was not too crowded. Well worth the time!

I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing this place is, I was thinking small town, tourists area, how good can it be?, well in my opinion, it should be on every top 10 list for Maine, or maybe even New England. It has everything one could want in a Botanical Garden, area's for the kids, many easy to traverse paths, so those with mobility concerns will enjoy, some far more adventurous trails for hiking, frogs, butterflies and monster sized trolls, simplywonderful.
The place is large, most probably wont see it all in one day, but the do offer shuttle services to help folks get around.

Beautiful coastal garden with creative formal gardens and well groomed woodland and coastal trails. The Trolls were an unexpected and delightful incentive to explore “just a little bit” farther. We enjoyed it so much we were late for a wedding rehearsal we were a part of!

This is a must see if you are traveling though Maine. My husband and I had such a great time. Walking though and seeing all the flowers. The whole landscape was breath taking.

I love gardens! My husband and I have been going to gardens for almost 40 years. This one captured our hearts. The hydrangeas alone are worth the trip. But there is to much more! Go!

Loved this experience—gorgeous gardens, especially 5 Senses and Children’s Gardens. Finding the trolls was fun. Highly recommend!

We were expecting a small botanical garden with beautiful flowers. Silly us. The Coastal Maine Botanical Garden is one of the most interesting and well curated places in Maine. The botanical garden is 248 acres, involves lots of walking, great interactive activities for kids, impeccably beautiful grounds. They have put 1,000s of hours into creating, planting, and maintaining the grounds. There are multiple explanations which teach you about how to keep your land from runoff damage, which plants to plant to retain water (ferns, sedges), and the butterfly house, bee exhibit with a live hive, and so much more.

Website is best resource because special events happen all the time. On the day we went, my wife paid the normal senior rate while mine was free because of father’s day.

Looks wonderful. Will a visit the last week of September be disappointing? Trolls will be fun but I suspect most of the color from flowering plants will be past. Guess my timing, as usual, is bad. Will shuttles and guides be available? My wife has mobility issues and I am worried some of the more interesting parts might be difficult for her to see? Also it said tickets need to be bought in advance? Is this a left over COVID restriction or to prevent over crowding? Is one day enough in advance since our schedule will need to be be flexible. Thanks

I think the shuttles etc will still be running but I am not sure about the flowers. The foliage should be beautiful

Has anyone seen the trolls with little ones? If so, can we seen them in about 2 hours? I’ll have a two year old and a 12 year old with me. I’m debating if we can squeeze this in during our road trip from Boston to Bar Harbor. It’s an estimated 6 hour drive which means longer with kids but this seems so amazing. Trying to figure out if the longer day is doable and worth it.

We did it with a 5 year old, but to do it in 2 hours you’d have to be hustling. The Trolls are scattered throughout the Gardens, and the parts they’re in are wooded so it’s more like hiking than a garden stroll. Two hours would be tough.

Yes we are open, rain or snow. If extreme weather doesn’t allow us to open we will post notices in the local news, on Facebook and on our website. Gardens Aglow is actually really spectacular in the rain.

I don't think there is. You could take an uber to there and for the return trip the local taxi service. Or the Amtrak to Brunswick than a taxi backend there . Good Luck and enjoy

I am not aware of such a servce. It's about a 90 minute drive without traffic. I suggest renting a car for the day. There are many scenic sites to enjoy on the way, in that Boothbay area and on the way back. Enjoy your visit!

What are the hours during the summer? TripAdvisor has different hours listed than website.

Go with what the Gardens' website says. They may change hours due to events/seasons, but are pretty good about updating their website regularly. It says 9am-5pm through June, and open until 6pm in the months of July and August.

Thanks for asking this question. We have quite a bit blooming right. We are about about an hour and twenty minutes from the Portland Jetport. There is no public transportation that would take you all the way here so an Uber would be your best bet if you didn’t want to rent a car.
I’m not sure what’s in bloom elsewhere but Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth is a lovely little spot near the Portland Head Lighthouse. It’s about 20 minutes from the jetport.
