We popped in to Scanlan’s for a drink whilst staying next door in Hotel Gernika. Owner was super helpful, welcoming and generous with his knowledge. Wine was also rather tasty and very reasonably priced. Thank you! We were so tired and weary and just wanted some basic info and a nice drink; Scanlan’s was just the ticket!

We stumbled on Scanlans on an overnight stop in Gernika on our Camino journey. What a great little bar but the highlight was the owner who took great care of us and kept the drinks flowing. We can't recommend Scanlans more highly. Great craic and atmosphere. Thank you very much for a great night and Camino memories.

We were staying at the hotel Gernika, next door, and visits Scanlan’s several times. Patrick is really helpful and happy to talk about the area and provide advice. The pub is full of locals and a great atmosphere, there is an excellent selection of whiskies as well if you are an enthusiast. Good place to stop and relax.

Servono solo Baschi! Se ti azzardi a parlare un'altra lingua che non sia la loro, o solo perché non hai una faccia conosciuta, non ti servono nemmeno, non ti rivolgono la parola e probabilmente ti insultano con gli altri clienti locals.

I was in Gernika last Tuesday and while I try to avoid Irish pubs when on holiday I was in the mood for a good old Irish chat!
Called in to Scanlan's tavern as it is reasonably close to the centre of town.
It has has a real nice traditional feel with lot's of timber, plenty of bric-a-brac, lots of character and the beer was great.
I met Patrick the owner when I was there and we had a great chat about everything and anything 😀
Well worth a visit if in Gernika.

Casualmente decidimos tomar una cerveza alli, lo hicimos en la terraza, tranquilamente. Terminamos cenando alli bocadillos riquisimos. Una sola persona en la barra no daba abasto con todo y tuvimos que esperar bastante a pedir y a cenar, pero lugar recomendado

We loved our accidental stop at Scanlan's. We chose it for convenience to grab a quick dinner, but would happily return for an even longer visit on our next trip to the area. While speaking Spanish wasn't a roadblock, it was a pleasant surprise to have the bar tender/owner respond in English. He immediately made us feel totally welcome and at ease. The atmosphere was cozy and the clientele included locals and foreigners alike - all equally welcomed. We had a great time visiting with the owner discussing everything from politics to social issues. The food was tasty, and the beer just right! We would recommend this place to anyone travelling to Gernika!

If you want a great experience, drop in to Scanlan's Tavern. There's a huge selection of drinks and the pinxto's are alway's tasty.
Patrick's (the owner) knowledge of drinks is incredible and he's a great story teller too. He also has lot's of charisma and charm, is engaging and well spoken.
Scanlan's has a relaxed atmosphere which attracts young and old alike and I can see why.
I really liked it there and have good memories of Scanlan's. Next time I'm passing through, I'll be sure to drop in again and have a drink.
