The location of the museum is stunning - close to a lake with a fountain and lots of room to take walks before or after a visit there. The outside entrance area is also very attractive with a water feature, and the statue of a little girl reading.
We were amazed by the collection - some really famous names -, and the fact that the admission was totally free! An extra bonus was the current exhibition of Near Eastern items from the Huntingdon Museum of Art in West Virginia.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and there were many adorable items for sale at the gift shop.

Never expected to find this gem of a museum. The building housing the museum is worth the visit alone. The collection is amazing in its breadth and well cataloged. Divided into multiple rooms, each room holds art more intriguing than the room before it. The museum store is also worth a stop and look with thoughtful offerings. Be sure to inquire at the store about buying the book which details the history and background of the museum and its founders.

While visiting Hagerstown, my companion and I took a walk through Hagerstown City Park and stumbled upon Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Free admission was a bargain for such a wonderful display of paintings and sculptures. We stayed for about an hour and a half but could have lingered longer. Their collection was very impressive and frankly, surprising. They have gathered quite a range of paintings of well-known masters. On our visit there were few visitors so we felt we had the museum to ourselves. I highly recommend this cultural treat if you are within 100 miles of Hagerstown.

We have been to this museum several times and it is hard to believe such a excellent place in a small town like Hagerstown. The setting around the museum is also very nice so you get two for a single visit. It is first class.

When I am in need of a reminder of the beauty in this world that others may see or create I visit this wonderful museum. It has been important to myself and my whole family. We get to see historical paintings and carvings displayed so nicely. We count on seeing some of our usual pieces and some up and coming new ones.The staff is approachable and ready to share info.The gift shop is unique. I like that they support the youth in the community too. The building is lovely and sits in a wonderful park. I have visited this museum since a child in the early sixties. It has continued to grow and diversify.Love My museum!

Took my wife on a rainy day adventure to the art museum. Our first visit and it was amazing to see the caliber of displays and art for this small venue.
Well worth the small price and we’ll go back for sure.

Enjoyed browsing through the different rooms of paintings and sculptures. Employees very friendly. Spent about 45 minutes there as it is not very large. Great that it's free for all to enjoy!

This museum is not large, but I found something of interest in every room and nook. Pleased to find the cases of antique silver and Lalique and other art glass. The collection spans several different subjects, media, and time periods. I would have liked to sit and enjoy the Diana huntress statue and view beyond, but there was a man in there speaking loudly on his phone for at least 10 minutes. It would be nice if people had to turn their phones off for a more peaceful and contemplative atmosphere. Nice restroom and entry area staff; fun to watch the ducks outside!

A wide variety of exhibits to see they did advise in 3 of the halls no photographs which is ok for me the exhibits go around the atrium so you come back to the entrance way.
Lots of parking and it’s a very easy museum to go around the setting is also very nice staff polite and professional.

Very nice place. I really enjoyed this. The only critic I would have on this place would be that you couldn't take pictures and all the rooms. I was really intrigued with African-American room but was quite upset that I wasn't able to capture those moments
