I took my daughter to Ceramics A La Carte at the end of December so that she could make something to give her mother for a gift. This was my first visit to this store though my daughter had been there before when there was a different owner. It is located in the Cobb's Corner Mall which means that there is plenty of parking. We went on a Friday night at about 5:00 PM after seeing online that they appeared to be open until 7:00. When we got there three other people were working on projects, a couple and a young girl. This store is not huge, with two rows of tables (I think) to work on with ceramic items to work on lining two walls. Once you pick an item to work on you take it to a table and then choose the colors you want to glaze it with and apply them to the item. When done you pay a $6.00 fee for working there and the price of the items or item that you worked on. The item is then taken to be fired in the kiln and is available about a week later. We were the last ones at the store when we went and the owner seemed to be rushing us out. There was a younger worker there part of the time during our visit and she seemed helpful and pleasant to deal with. When we went to pick up the finished items they were ready on time and looked nice. This is definitely a step up from places like Plaster Fun Time which are mostly for kids. It is worth a visit if you want to make yourself or someone else a personalized gift.
