Great museum to view historical homes in Falmouth! Fascinating artifacts with great history behind them. Very friendly and informative staff. Skip the walking tour though. Even though the guide was very knowledgeable, it was hard to follow.

My husband and adult son and I recently took the two hour walking tour, "Around Falmouth Walking Tour" with Tom as our expert guide, through Museums on the Green. Outstanding! Tom was a veritable font of information and we learned so much about not just Falmouth, but the history of our nation in the broader sense. Cannot recommend this tour more highly. One thing that Tom did that was fascinating, was to show us photos taken over a hundred years ago in the various spots we happened to be in today, so we could see yesterday and today, live! Tom answered every question and stayed quite a bit longer than the actual tour time, to answer questions. You could tell he was passionate about his volunteer work, which was very nice. We weren't able to spend much time in the museum itself after the tour due to our personal time limitations, but it looked marvelous. If you can, be sure to take the two hour walking tour we took - an easy walk, covers lots of ground but not strenuous - and the amount of information you learn, all so interesting and fascinating, is incredible!

My wife and I recently went on a tour with Caroline as our guide. The museum just opened up for walking tours (this is during the COVID shutdown), but the buildings are still closed. It ended up being just us and Caroline. Caroline was a true lover of local history and we loved our day out with her. As history buffs ourselves, we were very pleased to learn a ton of new facts we hadn’t heard of before. We got a great overview of Falmouth history and some good stories surrounding the historic families. Caroline also took her time and was happy to have the tour take the course we liked. Highly recommended!

Falmouth Museums on the Green is a complex worth visiting. It is located in the historic area of Falmouth and the Green and the antique houses are exceptionally beautiful. Our tour guide Tom gave us a walking tour of the beautiful houses and showed us old photographs of the houses and streets and how they looked in the 1800's. We saw a mansion designed to replicate New Orleans and Tom pointed out pink granite from West Falmouth. We learned the stories behind each house as well as the stories of whaling ship captains that built some of them. We thought the tour was fantastic and chock full of great history and photos!
Giles took us through the antique house that is part of the complex. We loved the beautiful Parisian wallpaper, interesting artifacts, and fireplace for cooking. We learned the true use of the Widow's Walk as well as where the expression, "Sleep tight" comes from. It was a great tour!
We learned about whaling ships at the outside exhibition.The colonial garden was a gardener's dream. The colors and design were amazing.
We then toured the museum's collection of Falmouth artifacts throughout the years and then visited the gift shop. We learned there were lectures on history that took place in the beautiful building behind the gift shop.

AAA offers a discount for this museum, which was worth it. The visitor center has an informative video and displays a number of interesting artifacts. Our docent led tour of the Wicks house was very interesting and well done. The wallpaper is of particular note. The Conant House contains a few artifacts and a neat video showing life in 1941 Falmouth. The grounds of the museum are nicely manicured.

The house's are very interesting and give a insite to a bygone age We visited on a very wet day, the staff were lovely and very knowledgeable not only about the houses but the area generally. We managed to look at the grounds in a brief break in the rain, they were very pretty and well managed. Definitely worth a visit

There is a little bit everything in close proximity to the Village Green and town center. Not only did we learn about Falmouth's interesting history but we stayed for a great lecture about women in aviation. Seems they have regular lectures from experts and authors. The next program I saw scheduled was about the New England Patriots. The walking tour was fun and informative. We picked up a take out lunch and ate in the lovely colonial inspired gardens.

Well...the walking tour could do a bit more walking with a bit less talking at the beginning but we learned a lot. We also took a guided tour of the house on the property, saw the gardens and came back for a special event that evening. Great programming for this relatively small community!

The town of Falmouth is very fortunate to have such an active and vibrant Historical Society with such wonderful volunteers and to have such lovely buildings and grounds. The volunteers give historical tours of Falmouth on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10 o'clock. Our tour lasted over 2 hours and was very interesting. An extra bonus during the tour was being given an explication of the whaling industry.
There is a tour of the Dr. Wick's house at 10 and 1. Our tour lasted about an house and was very informative. We toured the Conant House on our own. This houses has displays. We especially enjoyed the 6 five minute silent movies on cars, education, dining, restaurants, etc.
There is only a $5.00 admission fee. The museums close for the season October 9th.
