‪The gardens are very peaceful and pleasant. The pond view is very nice and there are a lot of benches in different spots to sit. We saw 2 beautiful white swans on the lake. Timing could be very important. We were there as the hydrangeas were on the way out, but other flowers were about to bud.‬

‪Great layout in a natural setting. Amazing perennial garden in a wooden setting by a lake. Great twist of history reading about the anchors and other nautical artifacts. In addition to the beautiful gardens we loved the peaceful outing surrounded by nature,‬

‪If you appreciate gardening and landscapes, then I would visit Spohr Gardens. The work that the Spohrs put into these 6 acres is amazing. Although the perennials are mostly dead, the trees, bushels, view and tranquility is amazing. Just to imagine the effort of this couple over 40 years is a wonder. There is a collection of anchors and lots of ok’d grind stones on the property as well. There are volunteers who are replanting perennials. We really liked this tranquil spot. ‬

‪I saw a Boston review scoffing at the gardens, declaring them to be a local destination but not worth it for outsiders. Nonsense. Too small to base a whole trip there, but exquisite plantings, very mature and established and in excellent health. On the edge of Oyster Pond, the shore is lined with about a dozen magnificent anchors, large ones, Throughout are mill stones and a large church bell is in the center. Clever pathways lead up a hill and into foliage, watch your step. Osprey and swan are visible from the shore, the family home is there but off limits. A small area is across the road as well. We walked up Fells Rd from the bike path to get there. Easy and close.‬

‪Lovely place to walk around. Pretty view of the pond. Interesting collection of anchors. Probably more scenic in the spring and early summer when more flowers would be in bloom.‬

‪This is a lovely place to stroll and just down the street is a nature preserve if you haven't had enough of a walk! It is right on the water and it is fun to see the variety of mill stones and anchors. In winter it isn't as impressive, but it is sheltered and lovely.‬

‪Free is always good...and a nice day trip (on a weekday to avoid crazy traffic). The grounds provide a nice stroll through various paths and clearings...down to the water with a neat display of old anchors. Could even pack a picnic lunch and enjoy down by the water. Loved the butterfly garden. An extra surprise was that it's right next to another short hike through some conservation land. Leave your car right where it is and check out the woods, the highlights for us being an area of path where people find pieces of old 'things' and place them on display upon a large rock around the bend....and then there was the 'huge' tree midway. ENJOY!‬

‪Not worth a huge sidetrip unless you are a garden historian imo, but a lovely (and FREE) stop while in the area. This is like classic Cape Cod woodsy garden meets the Barnes Museum in Philly thanks to plenty of huge anchors and millstones scattered around the site. Lovely to stroll through and enjoy the plantings - the foundation is working on re-planting more perennials, although it is more about the woods and rhododendrons than summer flowers. Some wide paths, some narrow ones, and a nice promenade on the edge of the (saltwater) pond with a newish dock to enjoy the sun.‬
