We've been to this place before and spent some enjoyable time on the grounds and in the museum. However, at this time, the museum is closed for renovation of the HVAC system, which we knew beforehand. We thought we could visit and at least spend some time exploring the sculptures around the museum. But the exhibits are so spread out, and the terrain is so hilly, that you'd really have to have a lot of time and a lot of energy available to see much of what the place has to offer. The signage is not the greatest, either. At previous times we were able to access the roof of the museum and check out where we wanted to go, but that was not an option this time.
The cafe was open, and we had planned to have lunch there, but found that for now it was only offering beverages and pastries; another disappointment. My advice would be to wait until the museum has re-opened, as we are going to do. However, I was a bit troubled in that on a weekday morning, there seemed to be no sign of any construction work going on.

The park is missing most of its sculptures.
Unclear if and when they will return.
Grounds are beautiful for a short hike.

Great park to take a walk or walk dogs. It’s very quiet there. But the museum is temporarily closed. It was also closed during this summer.

Lovely walk on the grounds of the deCordova Museum today. Fun and unusual sculptures tucked into small gardens. Would recommend this spot for a family outdoor adventure. The museum was closed today but so much to see outside.

Three adults visited DeCordova yesterday and were totally enthralled with the place. We spent a couple of hours touring the outdoor sculptures and strolled the beautiful, well-kept, mature grounds. We actually ran out of time and never made it to the indoor exhibits, but it is top of our list to do when we return soon.
It is a delightful and peaceful place. We enjoyed a light lunch at the cafe, but you could easily pack your own picnic lunch and find a nice, relaxing place to eat.
Parking was easy. Staff very nice and helpful. Admission very reasonable (although we are Trustees members)
Enchanting and fun for adults and kids alike. Don't hesitate to take your kids. They will love it!
For those looking for maps or are expecting detailed plaques explaining sculptures, I see that as sort of old-school. At DeCordova, Each sculpture has a QR code that works beautifully with lengthy descriptions that you can read or recordings in which to listen on your cell phone. This makes sense as it's easier to change when exhibits change and it would be ugly and obtrusive to have signage everywhere in such a beautiful environment.
Enjoy!

Parque maravilhoso com excelente estrutura. Esculturas pelo belíssimo parque, muito bem cuidado. No museu há um espaço para crianças. A vista é linda. Vale muito a visita.

This park is in a beautiful setting with absolutely stunning views from the roof deck of the museum. Unfortunately that's it. I was expecting a large variety of outdoor sculpture and was disappointed to only see half of what was depicted in the extremely outdated and confusing map I received. There was no audio headset to help me learn about the pieces, and the identifying plaques had very information. Even though I purchased my ticket ahead of time and had an email confirmation, the women greeting visitors said the machine used to process those tickets was broken. So - no quick way to process entry, no correct map showing where sculptures are, no direction or signs showing where to go and half the sculptures are missing. The museum has 5 floors but hardly anything exhibited. Not worth the price of admission.

Impressive collection in a beautiful natural setting with an interesting history. I've been there twice now, once before the pandemic and returned last month. It has a mix of outdoor sculptures and indoor installations, some of which are permanent fixtures and others curated for special exhibitions and events. We went there when the New England Triennial 2022 was on. We spent a few hours there and brought a picnic lunch. Strolling through the stunning property with all its outdoor installations is really fun to do and something that children enjoy as well. One of my favorite outdoor sculptures here is "Humming" by artist Jaume Plensa.

During my Sept. 18, 2021 visit, the museum was closed until mid-October. The clposing was no problem as I had two other sites to visit.
I read that 61 sculptures are available while I photographed only 43. Most sculptures have a name & date. Am not sure why there is a data, as one date was 1919,with the sculpture is more modern than 1919.
THe largest sculpture is a three step four sided pyramid called 'Because Once You Enter My House, It Became Our House', with words on each side.
There is one trail called 'Waleska's Way-A Trail', which takes a visitor through a small woods. A visitor should wear a comfortable pair of shoes, as the land can be hilly.
Admission is located in a aluminum structure-on the left as a visitor drives in toward the large parking lot which is free. The Park is located west of Boston out in the country. Hours are: Wednesday-Sunday, closed Monday & Tuesday.
The Park hsas a gift shop to check-out. One item is a large selection of wind up small robots.. Also books, pens and possibly models of the sculptures. Since the museum was closed I am unable to comment on the museum.
Restrooms are located behind the gift shop, which can be reached through the shop or by following arrows on the outside.
My visit lasted about two hours that included photography, reading what I could & a visit to the gift shop. Each sculpture will surprise a visitor as what the sculpture appears to represent or a complete different idea or thought.
Any possible future visitor who enjoys unusual/diverse sculptures , a visitor will not be disappointed. A visit is highly recommended.

We spent several hours enjoying a wide range of sculptures scattered over the rolling grounds. A few were interactive, all thought-provoking. The terrace overlooks Flint's Pond. The museum offers a range of artwork. It was fun to wander through the gift shop, which has a variety of goods at different price points. When we visited, the clearance section was large. The locals in our group intend to return often.

What are the chances of getting an Uber/Lyft or taxi from the park back to Boston? Or Boston to the park for that matter?
كُتب بتاريخ 1 ديسمبر 2018
Good Question! I use a private driving service because it costs less due to the distance and lack of wait time. This way there is no uncertainty of being stranded. Uber is wonderful close to home as I do not own a car.
كُتب بتاريخ 1 ديسمبر 2018
How many hours does it take to see most of the park? Would 4 hours be enough time?
كُتب بتاريخ 1 يونيو 2017
Four hours is more than enough. If weather permits, taking a guided trip of the Sculpture Park is great. I think 90 mins. for the inside exhibits is my personal limit.
And it is worth taking some time in the gift shop.

Are the gardens open even if the indoor museum is closed, I.e.would it be free?
كُتب بتاريخ 26 ديسمبر 2016
I have found that they leave the gate up during the days when it is closed so that locals can picnic on the grounds...
