‪The gardens are great and change with the seasons, the staff are helpful and well-prepared (hats off to Sophia in the Main House), and it's right off Route 125 with free parking. Definitely worth the trip.‬

‪The house is rarely open, but because it's only a stone's throw away, I used to drop in frequently to see the small gardens, which while well-kept, offer very little variety. I now hear that what used to be free comes with an admission fee and an advisory that reservations are a good idea. What used to be a spur-of-the-moment diversion, often with kids, is off the table. I realize that maintenance takes money, but I cannot justify spending upwards of $25 for a 45-minute walk with a few litt'luns.‬

‪The displays of tulips were really beautiful. Such a variety of colors. You need to book well in advance as it's sold out for this year. Be sure to visit the house while you are there.

The new parking area is a great improvement.‬

‪The garden renovations are absolutely stunning. I wish we had been there for the tulips, but all of the other gardens were beautiful. To all that have visited before, the new entrance is in a slightly different location.‬

‪Fyi. This property, owned by Trustees of Reservations has recently been renovated. It is no longer open access to the grounds Access is now from busy Chickering Rd, with on site parking, a visitor center and more restrooms. The grounds and gardens, once lovely, have been upgraded; spectacular for the tulip season. (Although admission to view at their peak was by paid tickets for all). A ticket is required to enter, which is complimentary for Trustees members, otherwise paid for the public. Hours are not unlimited.‬

‪Disappointed. First and Last visit for Winterlights. Very overpriced. Terrible Muddy Grounds or some icy wood planks to walk on. Overpriced snacks, $4 for an instant hot chocolate in paper cup !! 2 Craft vendors in shed. Not enough to see for too much money. You can see it in 15 minutes. No holiday flowers, no luminaries as I heard of years past. No music playing, $36 for two adults, way too much for what was there. Police man in cross walk trying to help people cross the street was nearly run over twice in front of us by speeding people racing to a crosswalk. Save your money and drive through a lit up neighborhood.‬

‪I visited the Stevens Coolidge Place on the one day in August when they open the house for tours. The gardens are open most of the time, and they are well worth a visit or a picnic. The old plantings are gorgeous as are the new, and everything is well tended. I was able to take a landscape tour after my house tour and I found that it really enhanced my enjoyment. The property was originally acquired by the Stevens family in 1729, and farmed by that family for six generations. Helen Stevens, the last of the line, lived there with her husband, diplomat John Coolidge. She made it her life's work to remodel and keep up the house until she finally passed it on to the Trustees of Reservations who own it today. The home is filled with the couple's possessions and collections. It is well worth the tour if you are in town during the infrequent open house. Check ahead. Be sure to take a walk down the street to the town common, and have an ice cream at the local parlor!‬

‪The Winterlights was a very expensive 15 minutes (stretching it) to see very, very little. As members of the Trustees we received $10 off of a $40 entry fee for two adults. Then you follow lit bags on the ground (luminaries) through an old short greenhouse with some lights and poinsettias with cacti; then go into a garden with a modestly decorated tree with pretty hanging lights on surrounding branches, then onto a wooden walk way over mud to visit a campfire (best part of the walk), then under a short lit tunnel and a bit more walking with minimal lights. A series of wooden reindeer are available on the walk for children to fulfill a treasure hunt. A building with what looked like a throne area for Santa but he wasn't there. Carolers singing occasionally. A trailer available to buy expensive treats. Really, for $20 a person imagining that the family in front of us with 4 kids spent big bucks, I'd say at least offer free hot chocolate. AND you are not able to go in the house to see the heritage house. This was a once and done experience for us.‬

‪Stevens-Coolidge ran its annual Winterlights activity. While the wind chill kept the numbers down, if you were bundled warmly the cold was no an issue. I managed to guide my way through the lighted bags on the path. For my second walk, I set up my tripod to shoot the lights. Staff was extremely friendly and supported despite they had to be frozen standing around. If you are in the area, check it out.‬

‪This attraction is FREE. Parking is located across the street. Lavatories are available. There are some different, interactive activities here for the various age groups that visit. There are LOTS of photo ops available. This is a wonderful place to visit.‬
