If you have ever played with model railroads I cannot imagine you not having a blast. If you’re a prepubescent kid I cannot imagine you not having a blast. If you’re going to be dragged along, if you have an open mind, you too will have a blast, though perhaps a bit smaller.
I don’t know how to compare the presentations, other than to say this is far and away superior to the NYC transit museum layout in Grand Central terminal during the holidays.
All gauges from N to S are represented, with large layouts for N, S, O, HO. There is an award winning layout of the working Boston waterfront of years ago.
Club members tend to be senior males, visitors are mixed with a large under 10 contingent. The members are uniformly helpful and knowledgeable and want to engage the visitors.
There is some equipment for sale and old magazines to take.
Donations are appreciated but there is zero pressure. The club will be open Saturday afternoons in 2018 from Thanksgiving to New Years.

Open during certain times. Visited and was delightfully surprised with the assortment of trains and setup. Good for the young and old. Volunteers willing to anwers and questions and explain details of the setups.

A visit to the Nauset Model Railroad Club open house is not to be missed during your vacation on the Cape.

My ten year old is passionate about all trains. In planning our trip to the Cape, I was excited to find this railroad club. It's tucked away in back of a shopping plaza. He had no clue where we were going. The parking lot filled up fast. He was so excited when we walked in. I got double hugs! The members are friendly and happy to meet people from all over. There was a wide variety of scale trains. It's a great place for kids and adults!

Several different gauge set-ups with scale model scenery. Limited hours - but well worth seeing when they are open.

Kids, parents, grandparents will love this place.
LOTS of trains running, with beautiful scenery and colorful characters, (members), operating their trains.Fridays, 7-9pm during July & August.

happened to see this under things to do on the Cape. we love model railroading and decided to check it out expecting there to be a few people. I was shocked at how many people go to the open house! these have several layouts in various gauges. members are very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions.

Set up in the basement of the Hilltop Shopping Mall, the Nauset Model Railroad Club offers a chance to see the full gamut of model railroads in one place. From N Gauge to G Gauge (small to large), they are perfectly laid out in every corner of the room, each supervised by a resident engineer who can answer any question about railroading. The trains are fascinating, only to be outdone by the towns, buildings, greenery (and even a mountain) through which they travel the tracks. Every Wednesday evening during the summer, the Club welcomes visitors for a full evening of fun. A small store offers train gear and a library a full set of reference books for the model train engineer deeply set in so many of us. Worth a regular visit!

My husband and I have brought all of our grandsons here on a number of occasions. They have lots of wonderfully designed layouts in all the different gauge sizes, the RR Club members are very engaging and love showing off their treasures and answering the hundreds of questions curious young minds ask. They have open house Wednesday evenings all summer long, and around Christmas time they have a great open house event with cider and cookies etc.
