My husband and I drove out here to hike to see the falls. There was plenty of parking even on a Saturday. I took a walking stick that was left by the entrance and by the picnic table as well. There is no port o potty here, just an FYI.
It is more of a hike not a walk in the woods. Your in the woods but there are tree stumps/rocks etc. It starts out pretty easy but then descends, yes, goes down hill, about 1/3 in, then realizing that you know on the way back its mostly uphill but it wasnt' bad. I'm 55 yrs old and in good shape. Literally took me and my husband 40 mins to get to the falls. By the wood walk there is also a rain shelter in the woods as well.
Part of the trail goes by the rivers edge/water and there is a tree down, so it gets tricky by the downed tree, Follow the markers it was well marked. The water flow wasn't that high so the falls weren't huge but still pretty. We got there and weren't' sure if that was it and it was.
The trail continues on and we didn't continue on as we had no idea where it lead to. So we headed back. There is metal cables by the falls, don't run your hand on the cable some parts are sharp and you can see tape.
You could bring snacks but not a place really to have lunch. No overlook just the falls and along the way there is a small waterfall by the river.
Nice short hike. 40 mins in 40 mins out.

Nice hike, beautiful views but definitely be prepared for rugged terrain that isn't very well maintained, wear appropriate shoes, layered clothing, bring water and bug spray. The deerflies and mosquitoes are fierce. Seems to have gained popularity and at times is fairly crowded. My preference is more isolated hikes but if busy trails don't bother you, this is worth the hike to the falls.

A nice little hike. The falls aren’t as big as Doane’s but still pretty. Worth a stop if you are in the area. Use bug spray as the mosquitos can get bad.

If you love nature then this place is a must see. Very quiet and off the beaten path. My kids love wading in the water and climbing the waterfall here.

It was slow going getting to the falls. The trail was totally covered with leaves making it difficult to follow. The tree makings guided us there. The fall was beautiful but not nearly as beautiful as Doane's Falls which we went to just prior.

A breathtaking waterfall that falls into a hole probably the water flows through an underground river. You have two ways of getting here. By the falls road, which only a 4WD vehicle with high ground clearance. Or by route 32 which is accessible by almost all vehicles. Google map will show you the falls road, but don't take it if you don't drive a 4WD. I had to turn back and go via route 32. Mine was a honda accord. The path is roughly around one mile to the falls. The path is through forest and it's dark and cold even on a hot summer day because of the thick forest. There are some slippery spots so you might need to watch out those spots. For children I would recommend to keep a very close attention because the path runs through above the falls and the hole is deep around 45-50 feet. But the view is breathtaking and It could be pretty during the fall.

About a mile round trip on a rougher trail than Doane's but it is a nice falls and the woods were quiet (although buggy this time of year).

My friend and I decided this would be a good place to explore. We parked on the small dirt parking lot located on route 32. There is a historical cemetery nearby and was worth checking out to see the veteran markers and dates of death. There wasn't a trail head map or any indication except for the road barrier. The trail begins as a basic level stone road and quickly descends into a ravine with rocks, mud, and roots. There was so much mud and dense forest that the mosquitos were BRUTAL. I even used heavy duty bug spray and we were being eaten alive. This was a dry, 75 degree sunny day. I couldn't imagine how bad those bugs would be on a wet day.
we continued down the path, having to pick trails with no idea which way we were going (you can get a trail map at Tully Dam, FYI) and eventually the trail comes down into a clearing where there is a hiker's shelter that is cool to explore, and a bride that leads over the brook. There was a sign here showing 18 miles to Mt. Monadnock, or .3 to Royalston Falls. We decided to pick the shorter route. We hiked down to a small series of water falls that eventually descend into a black pond. The water is foamy yellow and black as tar. Just disappointing. We didn't realize that the actual falls are much farther down the stream, but at this point we were done with the bugs and had to hike back up the trail to the car. We gave up. Might come back another day knowing what to expect. Entire hike took us about 1 hour.

A fairly difficult trail down to the falls, well worth it if you are able to hike the trail. Took us about an hour and fifteen minutes. Bring water. Gorgeous views of the falls. A must if you are in the area.

I am looking for a guide to help me to get to Royalton Falls. I am a photographer.
I am a healthy 79 and would need help finding the falls and getting back.
I would be photographing and video-ing for an hour or two.
I am happy to pay your rate.
I would like to do this Monday, August 10 but I am somewhat flexible.
