What a very cute but real chance to see and ride in a Trolley like the ones everyone moved from place-to-place in. Obviously, it's a short ride but still a very unique experience as is the Push, pull cart that you have to do also! Was a nice surprise as we had been in the area close to a dozen times and never knew it was hiding up on the hill.

It had been exactly seven years since our last visit, and the prices stayed the same ! It was $4 for a ticket to ride the electric trolley and the pump car, and free for Dads ! The conductor was entertaining and full of facts as he also worked at the Trolley Museum in Connecticut. We manually pumped the pump car up and back, with the downhill ride much easier. My wife said I was doing all the work, but I was trying to break the sound barrier.
There were trains running inside and kids having a blast. So did I. We took our ticket stub to Moe's Fudge Factor for a free chocolate (and bought chocolate walnut fudge) before heading over to Chip & Putt for 18 holes. We had a great afternoon in Shelburne, with 70 degree sunshine and a strong breeze.

Unfortunately was closed during the time we visited. Have been there two years ago and had a fun time.

We had a great time at this little museum. It’s rare that you get to touch, operate, and ride on refurbished historical machinery! We ended up with a private ride on the trolly car and the operators were very informative and interesting. The pump car was fun! You’ll enjoy this little side trip.

Run by mostly volunteer. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable . Dot or Doris was very pleasant to be with. My family and I had such an amazing experience will never forget , especially the trolley ride and pump ride. The conductor was friendly and able to answer all our questions and gave us suggestions. Please don’t forget to donate when visiting. I believe one of the caboose is available for romantic night. Definitely a must for all those who appreciate a little history and trolley/train lovers. The small indoor train table was a plus and the Moore coding. Restroom is super clean. Also, in the back was a little art room.

The volunteers are energetic and knowledgeable about the local trolley history as well as the broader railway. Fun trolley ride, and hand crank trolley. Recommend for families with children older than 5.

We really enjoyed learning about the history, the trolleys and my son was over the moon when they let him pump the hand cart, explore the caboose and drive the actual trolley!

Glad you and your son had fun, Lauren. For folks reading this review, getting to run the trolley is called being an Instant motorman, and for an additional $20 you can do it too. Ask at the ticket counter, or ask your trolley crew.

Really, it is a cool trolley but it’s only a 400 foot ride and back? Try the steam engine or the Tomas the train ride! If you do plan to take the Shellburne trolley it will last all of 20 minutes to go through everything that they have there and you’re gonna need to plan to have something else to do with your time

Our trolley ride is more of a trip back in time than a scenic ride. Many folks, especially if they have kids or an interest in railroads or history, will spend several hours at our museum, but it is true that you can zip in and out in 20 minutes. And there ARE plenty of other things to do in Shelburne Falls, see www.shelburnefalls.com.

Even if you are not a rail buff come experience a part of our past. How many places can you go to ride a pump car? See and experience how railroad workmen moved about. The trolley is a short ride but there is no limit to number of rides. The kids love it. My niece's 2 yr old son was shaking his body to get it back in motion when the ride ended! I've been several times and always enjoy it. Occasionally a freight train will pass by which excites the kids. You can explore a caboose and there is a model railroad in the visitor center. Bring your camera. . Nearby is the Bridge of Flowers which was formerly the trolley line across the river. At night it is a nice romantic walk with a "special" person. There are several places to eat. I enjoyed the candy store as it has sugar free candies (diabetic). If you live nearby you could volunteer, learn and operate the trolley. It is a volunteer organization. It is not expensive and the money is used to improve the site

Trolley and short line railroad was in operation in the early 1900s. Replaced by trucks. Ride the trolley (15 minute ride) on the renovated trolley. Knowledgeable docents, volunteers, etc. Also see the legacy subway cars, caboose, etc. Visit the museum with more knowledgeable volunteers.
