Nice little spot to check out .... a small piece of history. Visited during the winter when there was snow on the ground. Made for lovely photos.... very accessible as the parking lot is directly in front of the Tower.
Had no idea George Bancroft founded the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD..... have been there twice and immensely enjoyed my visits.
As mentioned in previous reviews.... just be aware of 'kids' hanging out in parking lot smoking.

Was a fun visit; views were great. You do need to walk pretty steep hill to get up to it. Neat little piece of history. You can walk through the stone sections but it’s open ruins. The architecture is worth the hike.

Pretty area with a nice view. We didn’t find any child friendly trails.
There also isn’t any bathrooms or port a potty. Another site had said this is family friendly. I always think of family friendly as having a bathroom.

Tucked away in a quiet, woodsy area in the middle of Worcester, near the WPI campus, this is a monument in memory of George Bancroft, founder of the Naval Academy. If you want a few quiet minutes it's a nice visit.`````````````

Great place for a short visit. Nice to bring a packed lunch even. It is locked up so you can only view the tower from the outside but still pretty cool to see

Decided to check out the tower early morning after work. Tower’s located at the top of a hill with a pretty nice view. Unless you’re a jogger, there really isn’t much else there. It was nice seeing it in person. View of the city of Worcester looking south is nice, too.

Nestled in a residential area, the tower is a scenic place on top a hill overlooking the rest of Worcester. The view is quite nice, especially in the fall! There is adequate parking too. However there’s not much to do besides taking a couple pictures and admiring the view. You can’t go up the tower because it is locked, but it’s free to come here so I understand that it can’t be opened. Also in the forests nearby, I’m pretty sure some people were smoking marijuana.

I went to see Bancroft Tower today, and I was hopeful to climb to the summit. Yet, it was closed; I saw online that in previous years, the tower was accessible to the public on Sundays in October from 10:00 A.M. through 2:00 P.M. Thus, I was disappointed over the fact that the tower was closed off, but it is a scenic site. There was parking right by the tower, and it was free to enter this park.

Uma torre de pedra dentro da cidade. Muito interessante e um ar de misterio. É um passeio rapido mas vale a pena pra tirar umas fotos.

I took my boys up to Bancroft Tower for a tour, the building is just so beautiful up on the hill, and you can see the whole city of Worcester up there. It just reminds you of something out of an old movie. My boys ages 13, 12, & 12 really enjoyed it. There are also hiking trails up there too, however we didn't hike because we only had our sandals on. Small parking lot across street, absolutely free, and nice beautiful grounds to have a picnic. Check it out!

Does anyone know if the inside of the Tower is scheduled to be open to the public: October of 2019. In the past the DCR Park's Department has opened the Castle on Saturdays during the month of October.

“Park Spirit of Worcester” is a non profit that has been responsible for getting volunteers to open & staff the tower in past years. Their website says it will be open on Sundays in October, weather permitting, but they do not say what the hours are.
