‪The Betty Van Andel Opera Center is NOT where most operas by the Opera Grand Rapids are performed. Typical full scale operas are performed at DeVos Performance Hall. The previous reviewer mentioned having box seats, which are only available at DeVos Performance Hall. I saw Maria De Buenos Aires at the Opera Center and it was the first time they did a full show there. It was a great space and the building is lovely. It is a very functional facility for many of the Opera Grand Rapids' needs. However, the space does not have stadium seating, so unless you were in the front two rows you could barely see the heads of the performers. This was disappointing for an opera that featured such fantastic dancing! Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable and moving experience, and the setting of holding it at the Opera Center made it remarkably intimate, which I truly appreciated.‬

‪Great Space for Great Performances‬

‪Visited the opera and was greatly impressed. We had a box seat, which provided not only comfortable seating, but also an unobstructed view of the stage. The Opera Center is large, but gives a feeling of intimacy. Nice touch having a running translation! Though, to be honest, the spectacle on the stage was great, without even needing a translation!‬
