i liked this course. it's only 9 holes, but they are challenging and interesting.
there is quite a bit of water. basically, every hole has water, and a lot of reeds and stuff. the fairways can be quite narrow, and they are lined with what is basically forrest. so if you don't hit the fairway, you can kiss your ball goodbye. i lost only one ball, more by luck than anything. my friend who i was golfing with lost lost at least five balls. probably more. almost one a hole it seemed like. we lost count.
the fairways have a lot of doglegs. almost no holes are straight into the great wide open fairway. most of them have some sort of water hazard that protrudes out into your line of fire. the 8th hole in particular has a ridiculous amount of water going out into the fairway, so you have to drill a perfect shot about 200 yards--but not too far, or it'll go into another pond. then you have to hit it over that pond to the green.
if you hit a lot of worm burners, or your drives are unpredictable, you're going to lose some balls. you just are. there's forrest alongside every fairway, and most fairways have a water hazard. some have multiple water hazards.
that being said, i liked this course. pretty challenging. definitely different. tons of water hazards. but very interesting, in a fun way.
two things i didn't like about it was the unusual amount of bugs that buzzed my head all round. they were kind of obnoxious.
i also thought it was a little pricey for nine holes.
in general, though, i liked it.

This is a nice little course. It is in a beautiful setting which makes it worth playing. If you don't hit your ball straight, bring a lot of balls. Errant shots will never be found. There is a lot of water and swampy "stuff". I wouldn't want to play it regularly, but I enjoy playing there once a year. It is located right on US 2 a few miles west of Manistique.

Played Stony Point Golf Course during August 2012. The course is only 9-holes, but measures 3055-yards from the blue tees and 2950-yards from the white tees. There is also gold and red tees. Course was very nice when I played it Pace of play and staff were both very good.
