We had a few hours to spend in Port Huron and we stumbled upon this very unique museum. It was full of the history of ice, plus many other items. Give it a try, you will enjoy it!

Well, there is a lot of information about ice and refrigeration. And then, it gets into this guy's personal exploits and interests, like big poster displays of random articles and magazine ad cuts out. And then there was . . . the DOLLS. They aren't even connected wit the Knowlton's but the person who used to own the building the museum is in.

Super presentation, the tremendous volume rare historic merchandise exhibiting Ice Manufacturing is well worth visit. For a simple donation, the staff, introduction video was very informative. You can be assured anyone attending this museum will walk out with information never ever known, regarding this historical chapter of ice harvesting. Many things within the exhibit illustrates fond memories that applied to many parents and grandparents. Great place to take disciplined children and grandchildren. Great hidden treasure!

We visited Knowlton's Ice Museum of North America because the name was intriguing, not really knowing what to expect; it turned out to be awesome, and far more than meets the eye from the street. The museum traces the history, technology, and business of commercial ice production starting from the days of cutting chunks of ice out of the frozen Black River and storing them throughout the summer and fall, to what happened when electricity and refrigeration became commonly available. There is an introductory welcome and video to get you oriented, then you can look at everything on your own; most of the equipment and items on exhibit are in amazing like-new condition and are well documented. The docents are very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions or tell you more about anything. Highly recommendable for school groups, and they will open up and give tours to any interested group by prior arrangement. We spent more than two hours there before running out of time.

The lady, the day we were there, running the museum is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable of the museum. Short video is recommended to watch to get history of family and gathering ice from lake. More ice picks than you ever dreamed of. All things to do with ice, including wagons. Plus, milk bottle collection, antique refrigerators and dolls. Free parking on street by museum.

they have group tours there is antique artifacts and lots of history on how the ice business started. the owners have passed but traveled to get as much artifacts. Great place for kids and adults to experiance the history . would reccommend it.

What a great experience. You really do step back in time in this extensive collection of rare artifacts. To now understand that ice harvesting was such a large industry in the United States. My family lives in Florida and we were vacationing with my son in his town of Port Huron this summer. Hidden gem in itself. The curator Vickie opened the museum special for us because she was there doing some work and knew this was a must see before we left. Thanks you so much Vickie! When we go to our freezer now to make drinks, we ask if anyone wants "artificial Ice". if you have been to the Ice Museum you know what this means. Please go check this rare piece of local and national history out. What an accomplishment of the founder Mr. Knowlton, his family, friends and neighbors.

Stopped by the ice museum while visiting family in Port Huron and we were so pleasantly surprised! Museum is full of an interesting account of the dairy / ice industry and was engaging for the whole family. The three women running the museum were so knowledgeable and sweet. I would highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area!

We are open on Saturdays from 11:00 am-5:00 pm during the winter (Oct.-May). Our summer hours (which are from June-Sept.) are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-5:00 pm.
