‪Hiking the Cascade River Trail at Cascade River State Park‬

‪Good trip. We arrived at approximately 5:45 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the trail. The majority of the trail was paved, and there were several sets of stairs to climb up and down on, as we walked closer towards the waterfall. We saw the cascades first, and then made a loop to see the actual waterfall. The trail was not marked and we actually made a wrong turn before getting back on the path we were supposed to be on. The waterfall was decent in size, and we were able to climb on some of the rocks to get a better view. We continued on the trail until we saw where the waterfall ended.

Tip: I recommend spending 1.5 hours here if you truly want to see everything.‬

‪Cascade Campsite #5E and River Great Place to Stay‬

‪Excellent campsite #5E! Very spacious for larger family size (2 large tents + 1 vehicle; must follow "Rule of 3" for entire campsite), good for our senior mother, with disability. Had 2 entrance ways. Right across from dumpster, vault toilet and water spout.

Right down the way, 5 showers, flushable toilets - well maintained, clean and warm water.

Also, has a Guest Center with picnic tables, soda machine, etc. all in-doors.

Across the way, about a 10 minute hike, you get to the river.

Other nice, spacious sites include: 10E, all the sites down the road #2E thru 7E. Also, liked #32 and #33.

18E was host site. Sold bundles of wood for $6.

About 15 minutes drive to Grand Marais north, about 1 hour from Grand Portage + Canada border. Can also go south for other nice locations.

Picnic spots are across route 61, right by Lake Superior.‬

‪We intended to do the cascade lower loop trail, but we ended up making our own loop.‬

‪We started out from the trailhead with the intention of doing the lower loop trail, but the trail was closed for repairs, so we hiked to The Cascades, then followed the trail down the east side of the river to Lake Superior, and then walked along Highway 61 to the west side of the Cascade River before rejoining the trail and got a good perspective of the river from both sides before crossing the bridge and rejoining the trail back to the trailhead. It was very picturesque and beautiful. I would actually recommend this over the lower loop trail.‬

‪The trip was amazing and I couldn't have asked for better hosts Carola and Ren were awesome. The park was clean and beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a better week up there.‬

‪The camp hosts were the best, we became family in my mind rather quickly! The falls were beautiful! They even have a trail center so rather than being in your tent you can hangout there as well, it's amazing. This place doesn't get all the credit they deserve! They are spectacular and have bathrooms all over and have a main shower house as well. If you stay here your in for a real treat. And if your lucky on the trail to the falls you may see our state flower!‬

‪Great hiking park with an awesome river‬

‪We hiked this great state park. The Cascade river was running extremely fast and hard. The trails were well marked and there were a number of trails that followed the river. ‬
