not an attraction and has very limited opening hours. lots of restaurants and cafes inside are shut. went in winter and very handy getting to work but very stuffy and closed at weekend

By utilizing the skyway from our hotel, there really wasn't much need to go outside in the cold. Restaurants, shops, grocery, even a drug store were all available.

The skyway system was great for getting around on cold days, but we were not able to use it most of the time, because it was closed on the weekend.

The place is deserted and most of the shops inside are closed. No need to go there unless you need to cool down or to avoid the rain in case you really need to be downtown.!

This was so convenient. We were at the conference center but had events at nearby hotels. We could get there without ever going outside. There are bridges connecting many, many buildings all around downtown.

It may take you a bit longer to get to your destination but when it is pouring or freezing out, these walkways are a godsend.
Fun way to wander around the city as well but keep in mind that they do close early most nights.

The skyway system is very complicated when you're new, but it's fun to learn in traverse. If you're trying to get somewhere in a hurry and you don't know how to navigate the skyway, just walk on the streets. Take the time to learn the skyway when you have plenty of patience for it.

This is not an attraction. It is a utilitarian set of pedestrian bridges. As useful as they may be during the week, they're not something you would purposely go to, and they're wasting space on a tripadvisor list.

One can travel many blocks and to/thru many buildings in downtown, all connected by the skywalks. Some of these include shops, snack bars, etc. We were able to walk fro our parking garage directly to Target Field (several blocks) without braving the elements. Ingenious!

The weather was Ok while we were in town, but if we were still in winter, this indoor system of ways to cross streets and move among downtown buildings would have been very practical. Interesting architecture and engineering.

Are dogs allowed in the skyway?

I'm sorry, but I never saw any dogs in the skyway. Not saying they aren't allowed, I just didn't pay attention.

Hi we are staying at the Millennium Hotel to go to a Viking's game at US Bank stadium. Since you mentioned these in your review, is it possible to get from the Hotel to the stadium through the skyway or not? The internet makes it appear like you can.

Yeah, it's connected. But keep a note on the hours of the Skyway system. On a regular Sunday it doesn't open until noon. It opens a bit earlier on game day, but if you're planning on doing pregame tailgating or something early, it won't be open yet.

I am staying in Plymouth MN on a day trip. How can I go about & take public transport to look around. I also wanted to visit river & lakes.

I would suggest getting on google maps to figure out which bus stop/bus route will be the closest to you. I believe a 742 or 747 are Plymouth express routes that go into downtown(make sure you know the time of the last route leaving downtown going back to Plymouth). When you get downtown, whether you're on Marquette Ave or 2nd Ave all you'll have to do is find 3rd avenue and walk north and you'll run into The Stone Arch Bridge where you can see the Mississippi river and walk across to the Northeast side and get great views of the skyline. Also, the nearest lake would probably be Lake Calhoun. From downtown or Northeast, you can take a bus #6 southbound and get off on Lake Street. You would be about 2 or less blocks away. Also if you can stop by the visitor center "Meet Minneapolis" located on 5th street & Nicollet Mall where the Mary Tyler Moore Statue is or if you need directions the Downtown Ambassador program has Ambassadors (612-332-1111) who can assist or escort you downtown if you get turned around as well =) bus fares are online too.

You can use the light rail system, for about $2 each way. You can catch it at the airport and if goes to Target Filed which is just a short walk to downtown.
Can runners use the skyway for running?

Not that I am aware of, I could try and check further but I have been told they dont permit running but currently have no confirmation on that.
