Great local pub with a typically Scottish bar, nice separate lounge and outside beer garden. The pub has nice food, really friendly staff and customers. We move to the village just over a year ago and have been treated very well by everyone since we started to visit the Coalgate.

Outstanding. Xmas Dinner from the one and only Mr Jack Robertson and his Team It was Delicious couldn't fault anything, Restuarant Quality food from start to finish I Would 100% Recommend A Massive Thank you to all ❤️

We had heard great reports about the food here and wanted to try it ourselves. Were certainly not disappointed. The staff were very pleasant. We ordered a meal and didn't have long to wait. The portions were good and the food itself amazing - we had the chicken goujons and the fish and chips. Would've loved to try a sweet but had no room left after the main course. Very reasonable priced as well

I've only been in once but only living a few miles from Ormiston I'll definitely be back. The staff and punters were all extremely friendly and welcoming, and the music was excellent. Everyone makes you feel like you totally belong in there!

Go here most weekends with my fiancée and its always busy and good choice of music and even better now as you can have a lovely meal up to 7pm👍🏻

Visited a few times for charity events. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Reasonably priced. Happy customer.

As far as I could tell you don't come here for food - it is primarily a drinking pub only. Having said that both the staff and the locals were friendly, and we chatted with several of them about people we all knew. It's the only pub in the village, although there is usually a café open nearby if you want a meal.

If you're asking through Ormiston you'll do no better than to have a wee dram in the gate. Prices are very reasonable, staff and punters are very friendly.

This is a great pub , friendly atmosphere , owner caters for all. Warm friendly place , with entertaining characters . Highly commended for birthday parties, weddings and respectfully caters for funerals with dignity and respect. All in all a great local watering hole

What a gem of a place, staff were brilliant, great atmosphere, a few guys sitting in the corner with their dogs, staff looking after them as well with box of treats.
