The Mayo clinic historical suite is on the third floor and there is an elevator. The building itself is beautiful with the marble and brass through out. I enjoy history and spent over an hour in the historical suite with it's many objects and awards from the Mayo brothers.

The building is beautiful inside and out. It also houses the carillon, which plays at certain times. There are mainly administrative offices in the building, but the 3rd floor also has a mini museum display recreating Dr. Mayo's office and has other educational info for the public.

The building is absolutely beautiful! I took pictures from the Mayo building 19th floor and you can see the carvings and gargoyles. They do not create buildings like this anymore! I tried to visit but only got into the entry which is BEAUTIFUL! The doors were locked but it was later on a Friday.

The museum within the Plummer building is fascinating. Everything from the historically accurate restoration of Dr. Mayo's office to the model of the heart-lung machine used during the second open-heart surgery in the USA is riveting. Even my wife, who could tour the Smithsonian in an afternoon, spent almost 2 hours in this museum.

Very interesting museum. Worth the visit, especially if you’re in the area for a visit to Mayo Clinic. Really enjoyed it

The Plummer Building is part of the sprawling Mayo Clinic hospital system, and is a beautifully maintained historic landmark. It was opened in 1928 and still has the original marble structures - clearly they take great pains to clean/maintain this building very regularly. It's also still a functioning part of the hospital; even though patient care now occurs in other buildings, many of the administrative offices are housed here. There's an extensive library here as well. The giant bronze doors at the entrance are generally open.

An excellent job of preserving local and national medical history. Mayo and associated buildings display the development of the Clinic over the tears and why there is a concentration on curing the patient by listening to the patient.
It is interesting to see the major advances in medicine in the last 100 years.

Would not hesitate to go to Mayo Clinis again. Everything seems to be done to make treatments as comfortable as possible. We were there 7 days and no one ever seemed to be having a bad day.

The lobby is worth the visit. Unfortunately, the historical area including the original Mayo brothers' office is not open, no doubt because of the pandemic. You cannot enter from the street. You have to go through the Gonda/Mayo building.

The Plummer building is an architectural masterpiece that is still in use by the Mayo Clinic after nearly a century. The offices of the Mayo brothers are perfectly preserved and you get a phenominal sense of their contributions to the world of medicine and to humanity.

Anyone can visit, you may have to pay for parking at the clinic. We accessed the Plummer Building from inside the clinic, I assume there is an outside entrance. No charge to go inside.

According to the website, the Historical Suite on Plummer third floor is open without charge to patients, visitors and staff for self-guided tours weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, General Service offers tours of the Mayo Clinic Historical Suite. Tours begin in Judd Hall, subway level of the Mayo Building, at 10:00 am weekdays. There is an information kiosk in the subway of the Gonda building where you can get more information. I know that I have had friends visiting that were not patients or family members who took the general tour so you should be good to go. You will learn a lot!
