‪The story of the Delta Blues legend Robert Johnson and his unique place in American culture is incredibly unique and truly fascinating! This cemetery is small, so his grave is easy to find at the back of the cemetery (the other grave markers are interesting to view too!) and a very weathered Blues Trail marker at the church/cemetery entrance is quite informative. There are flowers, notes and other items scattered around his grave (and several discarded liquor bottles!). His grave is located under a giant pecan tree, is quite peaceful and beautiful - and all four members of our visiting group felt a positive and somewhat mysterious "spiritual vibe" while visiting his grave. This is definitely a "must see' while visiting the historically rich and fascinating Greenwood, Mississippi area - so much history for anyone interested in Blues Music & Civil Rights!‬

‪Not all that impressed. Nobody is sure that he is buried there, anyway. Close to Greenwood and easy to get to, though.‬

‪Great place to visit for any blues fan. Interesting that people still leave him booze and money! There are supposedly 3 places where he is buried but according to the actual grave digger thus is where he rests‬

‪There are 3 places where they say he's buried but this is the one he is actually buried in. Interesting story about him, he would turn his back and never let anyone see him play, rumored he sold his soul to the devil to learn how to play‬

‪After lunch at the Crystal Grill, drive on out North & West of Greenwood, out the Road to Money, in Mississippi, (irony?). There one comes upon a Mississippi Blues Trail site where the legendary Robert Johnson’s body is purported to be interred. Do a little research first & you’ll likely find that there are several other places where he is said to lie, in peace or not, according to the legend. He was the one said to have sung the blues. Wave at the marker & keep going on to Money, see the Little Tallahatchie River. There’s another legend there. Remember “Ode to Billy Joe”? Bobby Gentry wrote that blues tune, a complex one at that. The old Bridge, off the side of which the legend says something was thrown, is gone. Yet, one feels the dark side still.

Because there’s more, right there, & it’s a real, a too true Blues story. I hate that it’s not legend. There in that river at Money, a young visiting Chicago 14 year old was murdered brutally. His name was Emmitt Till. How about this
for a wild bundle o’ blues driving out from Greenwood only 10 miles? “Come By Here, Lord”.

Just around a river curve or two along the way west toward U. S. Highway 49E, there’s Minter City. There you’ll find a real relic, the abandoned agricultural architecture of cotton days past. “It’s a sight”, as Mississippians do say.

So, what do you think about Robert Johnson’s grave site now? Pretty darn interesting place, huh?‬

‪Do historians really know where Robert Johnson is buried? This tour raises more questions than answers and is certainly worth the time to participate in this discussion. Blues lover or not, this tour reveals a lot about a young blues musician we lost too early in life.‬

‪Mystery and myth abound in the story of Robert Johnson. We visited his grave site as part of a tour and our guide said no one is proof positive about Robert Johnson's burial site.

The adjacent church is absolutely lovely if you have the opportunity to view the interior.‬

‪If you are fan of Mississippi Delta Blues, this is a required stop. This is the most likely true grave site of Robert Johnson.‬
