Having left Moo U in 1980, and just driving through in 1999, the changes in the past quarter century were nothing short of breathtaking. My dorm Suttle Hall is gone, replaced by a field of grass. The new roads and reroutes are completely confusing, and one would believe that an engineering school could do far better. But it was good to be back.

We visited the campus while our son was attending a Vet Camp and was thoroughly impressed by the area, facilities, and the general demeanor of the people there. I mean, southern hospitality is real but I believe the good people of Mississippi might have actually beaten Alabama in this. This was also our opportunity to visit a potential college for our son and just after this visit, my son 100% dead set on going to school here in a few years. Definitely looking forward to being a part of a wonderful family at Mississippi State University

The campus is very well laid out, easy to walk, lots of trees, and just simply lovely! We did a campus tour as a prospective student. Well worth visiting campus!

This is one of the easiest campus to get around. I've never seen a large school with such a easiness to get around. The people are very friendly. The landscape is very well maintained.

My wife and I spent about an hour recently strolling around the central campus. I retired from MSU in 2002, my wife in 2003. It never ceases to amaze us at all the changes in the campus since we've been gone. The grounds and plantings have always been a highlight on campus, and they still are. One plus about the architecture is that frequently the new construction blends in with the old rather than standing out as new. One glaring exception to this is the Hunter Henry Building, which appears to be someone's idea of what buildings will look like in the distant future. Fortunately, it's placed far away from the main campus buildings.

It is a unique campus. Beautiful! A city within a city. I loved the old chapel. The groundwork is beautiful. I wish I could have saw it with all the students there.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful! The campus very easy to navigate. The only I noticed wrong was lack of parking, but what campus doesn't have that issue. Everything was clean and well kept.

Mississippi State has a large uncluttered campus filled with open spaces and architecturally significant buildings. So if your visiting for an athletic event, be sure to explore the campus. The drill field by the student union is a good place to start. There are also several free and outstanding museums to visit. We visit once a year for the early Spring Ragtime and Jazz Festival.

We have a prospective college student who was recently accepted to MSU. While we are planning a visit with her shortly by flying from the Northeast to Memphis and driving 2-3 hours to get to Starkville, I am concerned about her getting to and from Starkville by herself if she enrolls. There is only a regional airport 20 miles away. Of course that means the tickets are super pricey. Does anyone know if there are any shuttles, transportation services, buses, etc. that run from the major airports (Memphis or Birmingham or Jackson) to Starkville? She’s 18 and would be by herself so obviously safety is a concern. Thanks for your help!

I am not familiar with any transportation services however, you can contact the Jackson, MS airport or MSU to see if there are such services.
