Family went for the final weekend of the train for the season. Two hour wait due to great weather and leaves starting to change. Will go early next time.

This was a really cool treat in a neat little park with great trails. We came down for just the train ride and it was amazing to think I had never been, being in St Louis for so long. Of course the kids loved it as well. Nice little ride through the woods along the Meramec River and the bottom of a couple bluffs. There was a good size line waiting, but they run 2 trains so it didn’t take long to board. And $4 is the requested donation per ticket! So it’s super affordable, and if you can give more it will surely be appreciated. Really amazing this all done by volunteers. If you have small children and never been, take a drive out there one Sunday!

I dont how long the ride is but you go back along the woods and bluffs, to my younger grand kids, its like being on the real thing. The staff will interact with the customers and help make the ride memorable for the kids and fun for all. I recomend riding the train at least once. Go early, the line to ride gets long fast.

Cheap fun family activity for a Sunday in the summer or fall. We rode the 2 mile little train and quite enjoyed the journey through the woods. It was fun watching the children being fascinated by the train. Inexpensive--tickets $4.00 each. Younger children free. Restrooms available. Picnic area available. Would go again.

Meandering on highway 109 as I headed north above I-44 near Saint Louis, a sign caught my eye saying train rides available this Sunday. With curiosity and my childhood fascination in trains, I followed the signs and discovered a group of live steam locomotive enthusiasts running 12 inch gauge small scale trains just south of the city of Wildwood. Their locomotives pull a set of cars equipped with wooden seats to carry young and old alike for a ride through the woods, along the Meramec and next to the Meramec Greenway bike path. As our path cuts across the trail several times, the conductor would blows the steam whistle with loud shrill that alerts any bike rider that a train is coming across. After about a mile up the track and with a quick change to reposition the engine using a side track to the now front, we were headed back to our starting point. This relaxing half hour ride seem to make every one happy and made the world seem a calmer place.

Great Sunday Activity with the Kids. Tucked away along a trail by the Meramec River and run by volunteers this is a unique experience.

Fun Sunday with family and kids. A neat live steam miniature railroad, all run by volunteers. Very cool.

Conveniently located just north of I-44 and off Missouri Route 109, this is an attraction you don't want to miss. The locomotives and trains run on a 12-inch gauge track, and the ride is through beautiful countryside in the shade from a forest. The train ride is about 25 minutes long, and the trains run every few minutes on Sunday afternoons from May through October. This is a great place to take children. The train crews are friendly, and they are very helpful.

We love the WF&P.
It's a small train running through the woods along the Meramec River in West County, St. Louis, MO.
They run real steam engines, powered by jet fuel and by coal, and others. Pre-schoolers cannot visit often enough, and parents want to be there more often so.
Sundays, 11am-4pm, May to October.
A MUST for everyone, local and visitor, to St. Louis.
I'd hate them an 11 if I could!

This runs from March to October and it was fun. A little train on little track. My 5 yr old loved it, so did I! Something cute to do on a Sunday! They are open on Wed and Sun.
You get to see them move the locomotive around to get it changed in the front.
Not really much to drink there. Just soda cans in a machine, so bring snacks if your kids need them. We will definitely return! You can do birthday parties on Saturdays by reservation. Hats, whistles to purchase. Trains come every 20-30 minutes and you just wait in line for your turn, they have benches!
