Yes, during the week one side of the area will have lots of fruit and vegetables to choose from, while most of the other shops will be closed. Prices weren't any better than the supermarket for what I wanted, but of course, I would expect everything to be fresher. A couple of restaurants are open during the week along with a spice store, too.

As a local, I can tell you the farmers market part is absent on Mondays. And, although the perimeter shops and restaurants are open 7 days a week, most of those shops are going to pick Monday or Tuesday as their "closed" days (being open on weekends). You will still have things to see and do (we went on Christmas Eve and had a great time with our teenagers). But, Monday would be my last choice if my schedule allowed.

The perimeter shops are open year round. Of course, Saturday's April - October is the best time to go, but don't let that stop you. Plenty of shops, restaurants, history and views of the river to keep you busy for a couple/few hours 365 days a year. My husband and I took our teens on Christmas Eve and had a great foodie time!
