Took the KC Streetcar to Westport to grab a bite to eat. The food was great! If you like to eat and have a good time this is the place to be in the late afternoon/evening.

Cool area of the city, with good bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and general shopping (Half Price Books, Mills Music, etc.) in older, historic part of town.

Half-Price bookstore is here. It is a HUGE place with sharp staff, with answers. My book request turned up "out of print" and not available , but I got advice on where else to search.

Westport is a fun district with neat places. We love the Beer Kitchen and the Westport Cafe, but there are so many other options as well.

I stayed in this area on a recent trip. The area is very nice with some shops and places to eat. Also for a walk.

Westport is supposed to be where the wagons headed west from. Now it has one covered wagon as a reminder. It is a great place for night life and there are several good resturants. Not far from " The Plaza'.

Westport is an eclectic, "hip" area full of interesting and unusual shops, restaurants, galleries, clubs and more. Street parking can be tough to find but there are garages and lots. Hop out and plan to spend the afternoon exploring on foot. Head there in the evening to catch local bands and events. Grab a cafe seat and just people-watch. There's always something interesting going on in Westport.

Imagine an in-land New Orleans, minus the French architecture, minus the carriage rides, minus the fountains, churches and other tourist attractions. So basically some filthy, odious streets, old bars and lots of noisy people.

The town used to be busier with stores but I noticed a change in bars, restaurants.. not many places to shop. I think the area is more for partying Friday and Saturday. Definitely Not a place for children and a few strange people walking the streets. My friends don't drink so I've only been here during the day, driven through at night and it is hopping !

I couldn't figure out how to edit my post so I figured i would just respond again- I was thinking of the country club plaza area of Kansas City when I responded to your post- there are limited options for hotel choices in Westport, I would probably focus your search on the Power and light district. Sorry for the confusion and I hope this helps!
