‪We went to the down town area of New Madrid to see the Veteran's Park. The park has eight black granite monuments with names of local men and women from World War I to Gulf War from all branches. The Veteran park also has benches dedicated to local service members from World War II to Gulf War. It also has an area for those who participated in Vietnam war. The Veteran's Park is right across the street from the visitor's center and next door to the Higgerson school. Nice place to thank our Veteran's.‬

‪We visited the memorial park while there to see the Higgerson School Museum, which is next door. The New Madrid Historical Museum is just down the street. The park is worth a visit, paying tribute to those of us who served.

Thanks for the recognition.‬

‪This is a park that was built to pay tribute to past and present service men and women. All branches of service are recognized including the Coast Guard. It consists of a plaza, with a center stone of black granite from Asia with eight matching stones surrounding it. The Surrounding stones each have 100 names engraved on them. Tribute is payed to all the wars including the Vietnam War with a soldier in a pagoda. It is surrounded by black granite benches, water fountain, and black iron fence.‬

‪This small park in downtown New Madrid is a very touching tribute to the servicemen and women. While it's small, it has a big impact.
The park has benches dedicated to local service members from World War II to Gulf War. A section for those who participated in Vietnam war with a statue is moving.
The highlight of the park is the eight black granite monument with names of local men and women from World War I to Gulf War from all branches.
It's a great place to sit and reflect on those who have stepped up to defend this country.
The park is right across the street from the visitor's center and next door to the Higgerson school. Parking is between both and also on the street.
It's a must to visit if in New Madrid‬
