My husband arranged a carriage ride and afternoon tea for my birthday. What an absolutely wonderful experience. The owner was so friendly and knowledgeable, and we were allowed to go and see the horses in the stable afterwards. The afternoon tea on their lawn (with stunning views) was so yummy. Highly recommend this!

Found this just by chance on a things to do site. You have to book, so booked a carriage ride and afternoon tea, it was a lovely ride to see the countryside from the carriage. The afternoon tea was delicious and there was so much we took it back with us. You get time to fuss the shires who appear patient and gentle. Well worth it !!!

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting the team at Gentle Giants, the knowledge of the breed and experience of working with these magnificent horses is a joy to see.
We were expertly instructed how to put on the driving harness, and hitch up the carriage, then we each had to opportunity to drive the pair.
Highly recommend visiting even if you just want to meet these 'gentle giants'. Anyone wants to learn to carriage drive - this is the place to go.

A fabulous have a go experience with John and his boys Ned and Joe. John has so much passion for what he does and is happy to explain and share his knowledge. The horses were amazing, so well trained and the relationship between them and John is clear to see. A treat to see Betty the foal already a giant at 12 weeks old and taking all the attention in her stride.
I would highly recommend Gentle Giants, not your average commercialised visitor centre, but a real glimpse into life with giant horses. we were made to feel very welcome by John and Stacy and would very much like to return again.

Our daughter had booked us in for a carriage ride with two of these beautiful Shires.
The Staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful and some of the local folk came along too which made it even more special! The weather was perfect and the scenery stunning.
Afterwards there was the most amazing Afternoon Tea which we ate sitting out in the gorgeous garden, looking at the views.
We would thoroughly recommend this experience!

We had the most wonderful morning spent with these beauties and the lovely Stacy and her family. It totally made my holiday to be able to spend some time grooming BV and learning about the work the horses do; we also met the ‘boys’ who were turned out chilling and were able to see the carts and carriages used with the shires. I highly recommend any experience with these guys, beautiful horses and beautiful people xx

We went on this amazing experience today. Our group consisted of me and my husband and my parents. My dad has limited mobility and John and his daughter, Stacy were so helpful. They gave us plenty of time for my dad to get on the carriage and to meet the horses. Stacy's little boy was also a delight chatting to us.
The carriage ride was so peaceful and we loved it and were lucky enough to have lovely weather. John pointed out places as we went along and answered our questions with lots of knowledge and it was lovely to just amble along at a slower pace. My parents are from Devizes and John and my dad chatted about the Shire Horses at Wadworth brewery which is a common site in Devizes and who Gentle Giants provided the shire horses for.
When we got back we had the delicious afternoon tea which had wonderful cakes and nothing was hurried. Would definitely recommend this.
The carriage ride was so peaceful and we loved it and were lucky enough to have lovely weather. We had such a wonderful trip out with John and the Shire Horses on the picturesque country lanes of Moylegrove, North Pembrokeshire. Amazing views and the horses were gorgeous, very friendly. Enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you so much.

A gentle ride along quiet country lanes. The elevated position gives you great views over the countryside that you miss when whizzing along in a car. John is an entertaining and informative coachman. The horses are awesome, especially if you are 3 years old. An excellent afternoon tea from a local cafe rounds off a pleasant trip.

Absolutely fantastic experience! We brought my husband’s parents for an afternoon tea carriage ride and got a lovely warm welcome. The horses are so well looked after, John and Stacey made everything so relaxed and went the extra mile to make Mum & Dad feel special. They so loved meeting all the horses and the views on the carriage ride were simply stunning! The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious and huge! And what a view from the garden. This is a MUST DO!
