We had a private tour in March. Michael was our guide and it was amazing! In one day, we saw two different packs of wolves, elk, bison, pronghorn, two different moose, big horned sheep, bald eagles, mountain goats, and magpie. Michael took several pictures and videos of wildlife through his spotting scope and then air dropped them to us at the end of the tour. We had a great time and never expected to see so much in one day. We definitely recommend this tour!

If you're interested in an educational and personalized wildlife experience, this is a MUST. You need to understand that finding wolves on your own in Yellowstone is rare and difficult. The coordination the Wolf Tracker team does with so many other experts in the park is impressive. It's that knowledge and constant communication that allows them to identify where we might view wolves. Might you spot a wolf on your own, maybe, but I would say the odds are very low. Plus, you don't get the educational aspect from the guides, their full team, and the other experts they bring in to talk with us. I also appreciate their respect for the animals, human "entertainment" should never trump these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.
The food was healthy and incredible! Yes, breakfasts and lunches were simple yet great options and healthy (thanks Olivia!). Dinners - amazing! The chef they bring in is incredible and enjoying a community/family style dinner with our group each evening was a big bonus for this experience. An unexpected benefit was the bond our group developed. We were from all over the country/world. We also enjoyed spending time with each other.
Tips: do some research before you go. Wolf Tracker provides suggested resources and that is very helpful. Select their premium option - which provides the dinner/speakers. I can't imagine leaving that out. Set realistic expectations about what you'll see. This team works extremely hard to find wolves and other wildlife, but where the packs travel and the location of the one road presents challenges. Be patient, and kind.
Finally, one of the best compliments I could give is that this team made me feel like we were the only group they'd done this with as far as energy goes. I know they have weekly tours, and I'd imagine being exhausted, but they were fresh, helpful and just a joy to be with.

Our excellent guides had us happily on the road early in the morning in order to have the best chance for wildlife sightings. We were able to observe three wolf packs in action including the Lupine Pack, the Rescue Creek Pack and the Junction Butte Pack. Additionally we had many other wildlife sightings such as bull elk plowing through chest high snow drifts, a flat out bison we were convinced was dead and then surprisingly lifted his head, a bull moose lounging in the willows, big horn sheep, coyotes, and birds, too numerous to count.
When we were not at our scopes on the side of the road, our guides shared history, science, stories, and the politics of the wolf reintroduction program. Additionally, they daily rolled out great breakfasts and lunches. Our evenings were icing on the cake. Our evening meals and educational programs surpassed my expectations.

We had an amazing day with our incredible guide, Luke. From the moment he picked us up, his passion for the wildlife of Yellowstone was obvious. After entering the park, we almost immediately saw our first pack of wolves. Luke knew the researchers who were watching them, and we got a lesson about wolf tracking from them and got to see the author of several books I had read about wolves. We left that site eventually, then came upon folks watching another pack, and got to watch them for a while. We had a yummy breakfast, with hot coffee and hot chocolate to keep us warm. At one point after we ate we pulled over beside the river and on the same hillside saw at close range two golden eagles, two coyote, four big horn sheep, two bison, and American dippers in the creek. Luke was just as excited as we were. It was an awesome day. I am hoping to come back in the spring to see wolf pups and grizzlies. Thank you Luke!

An amazing experience! Jamie and Michelle were fabulous guides and super fun to be with. Everything was done in the best possible way. Absolutely recommend the company. It was a fabulous week in the wild and our wolf sightings were stunning.

One of my dreams came true when I visited Yellowstone Park in the Winter and was treated to four days with Wolf Tracker folks. Bonnie & Quinn could not have been any more engaging, knowledgeable (way beyond animal behavior & preservation). Their combined history of the Park, people who administer policy, great reference reading, and senses of humor made each day a true treat. Our good fortune with so many animals, birds, snowshoeing experiences could not have been planned any better. The equipment we had at our hands was terrific and I cannot recommend this couple any more than Five Stars b/c there is no higher. I hope to see them again in my near future. Thank you both.

I traveled with our guide Michelle who miraculously spotted all the animals (it wasn’t difficult to see the bison but it took knowledge to spot the wolves). With the spotting glass you can view the wolves with great clarity watching their behavior in a natural setting. Our guide was knowledgeable about animal behavior, geological features and Yellowstone history.

Along with 4 of my friends, we spent 2 days with Michael. He couldn’t have been a better guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the park and we enjoyed the wolf and other animal sightings and the education. A trip with Wolf Tracker is highly recommended.

We took a four-day tour in January. Our guides -- Quinn and Bonnie -- could not have been more knowledgeable, friendlier, or more attuned to our interests and desires. Every day was absolutely top notch.
You can't guarantee a spotting, of course, but we were lucky to see wolves on three out of the four days. More important, it was an absolute pleasure to spend 8-9 hours a day with Quinn and Bonnie. We took great hikes. e had great food. We felt intensely cared for. I cannot recommend this outfit highly enough.

I had an amazing multiday, winter adventure with Yellowstone Wolf Tracker! We saw multiple wolf packs and our guide, Jamie, was exceptionally knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics. It made the whole trip incredibly enriching. You could tell each staff person we encountered deeply cared about wildlife, the ecosystem, and their guests. If you want a memorable Yellowstone experience, I can't recommend booking with this company enough.

Yes, they operate in Winter. In fact that's the best time to see wolves. I have a friend going with them in December! There's ample accommodation available in Gardiner. Good luck!

We have taken tours with Wolf Tracker twice and both times exceeded our expectations. Our guide on both trips was Evan (I requested him the second time) and he is extremely knowledgeable, personable and passionate about his work. Both trips were in the winter, one in February with eight people and one in March with four people. Both times the vehicle was comfortable and the food provided was perfect for a "brunch in the snow". The tours start between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. as that is the optimal wildlife viewing time. The only thing a guest needs to do to have the best possible experience is to follow Wolf Tracker's guidelines on what to wear, what to bring, and what to read to be informed and enhance your experience; the guide will do the rest. By the end of the day all in our group were planning their next trip -- that speaks volumes!

Yes! Spring in Yellowstone represents a wildlife homecoming and extravaganza of sorts. I've long believed the month of May to be one of the best months of the year for seeing wildlife in Yellowstone. The park service aims to open the interior roads each April by the 21st, which opens up the opportunity to travel down to Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone the days following or proceeding your wildlife tour. Are there any service providers that you know of that match people together to make a large wildlife viewing party? $625 won't work for the 3 of us, but we could afford the prices quoted for a bigger group if splitting evenly amongst us. Thanks.
