When I was in college, this bar had the best live music to dance to. Headliners too like Robert Cray Band, Barry the Fish Melton, Yousef Lateef etc. Previous owner was a musician himself & had been part of the Grateful Dead entourage in the late 60's & early 70's in the Bay Area. Ate dinner here one night & had cocktails. The food was good, but not fantastic. Cocktails interesting & prices reasonable. They currently do not have music - what a shame

Large outdoor patio was very comfortable inspect of surging COVID. Recommend the Brussel sprout appetizer. Decent selection of kid menu choices. Good drinks.

We were traveling thru Montana and met my nephew for lunch. Most restaurants have the same 5-7 sandwiches for lunch.
Top Hat seems different.
My wife had a brussell taco and I had lettuce wraps.
The flavors were amazing
great service and the outdoor dining was enjoyable

Had a great early dinner at top had today. Really enjoyed the combinations of flavors that were in the dishes. One of our party had the poki bowl What's was very tasty and quite spicy. The Thai curry bowl was amazing. The vegetables had been marinated before cooking and had wonderful flavors. Another of our party Had the spicy noodle bowl. This so all the flavors were very good except it was a little heavy on the noodles and could have had more vegetables. Our server was wonderful attentive and timely on delivery and service.

Was in town for a business trip and took my wife and son here for dinner. It was on Valentine's day and it was crazy--lots of kids. We waited for about an hour just to grab a small table. Once we sat down, we had a few drinks and a great dinner. The pork lettuce wraps were unbelievable. Will get these again for sure.

Missoula has a lot of good food, so when I give a restaurant a 5-Star rating, it means it’s great food. Many visits with friends and family for lunches has always been a positive experience. Great service, consistent quality of food, lovely menu choices, and pleasant atmosphere.

We went to watch the White Buffalo concert and it was a great time. It was sold out and extremely busy. They managed to get drinks with a bit of a wait and the prices were fair.
I really enjoyed the concert and the sound was awesome.

We have eaten here several times since the remodel some years ago; the new Hat is definitely better. The atmosphere is far superior as one can actually see inside now. You would never know this is the same place.
The food we have eaten is good and the prices are decent.
This is still a good spot for music.

My wife and I were here to see James McMurtry and his band. This was our first visit to the Top Hat so I stopped in the afternoon of the show to check it out. It was crowded with people eating and drinking late Friday afternoon. There was a small dance floor in front of the bandstand in the far corner of the room with the bar along one wall and a lot of tables.
When we returned for the show, the tables were gone and there was just a lot of open area for standing. It was a good show but the crowd was very loud because they were there to talk to their friends and not listen to the music. We ended up leaving just before the end of the show because the crowd noise became too much.
It turned out to be a poor music venue.

Sound system is nice, drinks are steep but they always are at concerts. Enough standing room for the shows I attended. Went to a few shows here, it is on the smaller size. Plenty of hotels for a decent price nearby. Missoula is a fun town to check out!
