I think this is the biggest state park in Nebraska and it was confusing to us how to access it. There are a lot of cabins and buildings and there didn't seem to be one access point with a ranger in a booth that you pay. We finally found a building to go in and pay although I didn't find them super helpful. I think there are lot of things you can do like horseback riding tours and breakfasts and things. We just ended up driving the scenic drive and reading some depressing signs about the Cheyenne Breakout. We also visited the Trailside Museum, which is actually pretty cool for a tiny little museum and has the skeletons of two mammoths that died with their tusks locked together. They have a nice little rock and souvenir shop there. A lot has happened at Fort Robinson over the years - a fort, a remount depot, it was used as a POW camp during WWII, a K9 training center, and a beef research facility.

What a lovely state Park, lots of history.
Well kept and clean.
They have a nice campground near by as well, lots of large sites for big 5th wheelers.
Would go back here again

My family has been coming here since before I was born, around 50 years or so. While Covid seems to have put a damper on some of the services, it is still a stellar place to visit. Best if you stay for a couple of days, we always stay for at least 5 days and that's the way to do it. The hiking is wonderful, the pace is mellow, and the staff is super nice and very helpful.
Love to see they are now adding exhibits about the Buffalo Soldiers and perspective from the Indiginous people's side, there is a lot of sad history there but also a lot of inspiration and beauty. Plus, it was the site of so many dinosaurs and wild fossils.
Keep supporting this special place.

We enjoyed a long Labor Day weekend, having rented one of the brick “offices” cabins for our extended family. There was something for everyone; swimming and horseback riding for the kids; a beautiful jeep tour; hiking and biking into Crawford. We unplugged our phones, did not miss television, and had full evenings of card and board games. This is a favorite spot for us and we can’t wait for a return trip next year.

This use to be a historical Fort. It is now a sprawling B&B and only on occasion do they open the historical parts.
Shameful, their really is no reason to go if you don’t need a room for the night.
Try Fort Laramie if you want a historical experience.

We used to love coming to ft rob. We haven’t been there for about 5 years and decided to go. The pool was extremely dirty. Found a dead toad in it that had been there a while. The pool water was cloudy. The bathrooms around camps were extremely dirty as well as the showers. Never saw anyone cleaning the three days we were there. Also to end the trip, we decided to see some of the buildings and museums. The buildings had posted they would open at 9am on Monday morning. We went at 1020 and nothing was open or unlocked despite hours being posted to be open. We called the office to ask if they were going to open and the office stated it’s the state that is supposed to come and unlock them and that they having nothing to do with it. Will not return there are better campgrounds to stay at .

We love Fort Robinson State Park and have rented the large lodge for family reunions a few times. We had a great time with the stagecoach and horses. However, I want to warn others about tubing the "White River".. for $18 apiece we were dumped off at the most ridiculous experience... very shallow & narrow water way (aka ditch) full of weeds & bugs. They even offered oars because it's that slow, you have to push your way through. We would not have chosen to do this for free if we knew how awful it was!

There is so much history here. You can wander around at your own pace and visit the exhibits. My mission in coming here was to visit the spot where Crazy Horse was murdered. There is information about the old fort, the buildings and you can go inside a replica of the guardhouse. If you have read about Crazy Horse and his death, it is an emotional experience to be where it happened.

We had driven by on p[revious drives to the Black HIlls. This time we decided to stop. Admission is $12, high if you are just making a short visit. We saw a museum and drove the loop. Next time I think we will stay in one of the lodges for a couple of nights and take advantage of the many things to do

We have booked one of the big brick officers' quarters for three nights in August. The listing doesn't list any air conditioning and temperatures reach into the 100's during the summer. Just how hot do these accommodations get in August. Will it be too uncomfortable to enjoy ourselves and sleep at night?

We will be visiting Ft Robinson Sept 13-17. Will either the jeep tours or carriage tours be available. Also are any of the restaurants open?

When you say off-season, what dates do you mean exactly? You said you went in September; I am going to be there Labor Day Weekend. Is that still "in season?"

Is Commanche Hall air conditioned? We will be there on the 4th of July so I imagine it would be unbearable without air conditioning. I assumed it would, but an old trip report said it didn't. Has a/c been added to the house? We will be staying in one of the double rooms with a private bathroom. Will towels bedding and toilet paper soap be provided? Two past guests mentioned mice and bats. Is that still a problem?

Prices for activities? Horseback riding, Jeep/stagecoach, cookouts, kayak rentals? Planning a trip with 3 kiddos and curious what to expect for costs. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

We will be traveling through this area in July and have a couple of hours to spend in the park. Could someone elaborate on the tours offered? I could not find much on the website. We are interested in history and photographing wildlife and landscapes. Is this a park we can drive through or do you recommend a tour?

You cannot drive through the area where you would get good photos of wildlife and landscapes. We did the 50 minute jeep ride and got photos of big horn sheep, antelope, flowers, and the beautiful view from the top. The jeep ride is $13/person. And one jeep can take 5 passengers for sure, possibly 6. You need to go to Nebraska Game and Parks website, then locate Fort Robinson. They also have other activities too--horseback riding, wagon rides, etc. They emailed me extra info after I emailed them questions about the swimming pool. Email address is ngpc.Fort.Robinson@nebraska.gov or call them at 308-665-2900. There are three different museums on the grounds and different buildings you can drive to on the grounds. When you contact NGP, ask them to send you a map of the grounds. But also ask them for the phone number of the Nebraska Historical Society who operates one museum. The second museum, Trailside Museum. is operated by the University of Nebraska. It was awesome too! Two hours isn't nearly enough time and you are smart to plan ahead of time as to what activities!

Are the kitchens in the cabins equipped with dishes, silverware and cooking utensils?

We didn't spend the night and didn't have time to tour the cabins
but I think they have everything. I want to go back and stay in the officer's quarters.
