The Kettle has long been one of our go to bars in Lincoln on football game days. On 9/27/19, we entered about 4:30. It was about half full of its 60 or 70 person capacity. It took over 10 minutes to attract a waitress to place an order and nearly 35 more to get our two mules. We called over our waitress and she said they were “slammed” because a bartender didn’t show and the waitresses were trying to run everything, The bar area looked it. Half the time the two women behind the bar were talking and looking like they couldn’t find ingredients instead of mixing drinks. I asked our server where the manager was. She said there were only two managers and they both were in the Haymarket. Not sure if she meant they were working another bar or partying down there. Any business can have a bad day, but at least management needs to be there trying to fix it. The employees were totally lost, could not even get orders to the right tables when they came out. Football Saturdays are nothing new in Lincoln. Contingency plans should be in place. Maybe cut the game day menu to their top five drinks instead of their menu of about 50? Will try here again and hope they figure something out by the next time I am in for a game in about a month.
