One of the coolest lakefront places to visit and hang out on the beach or go for a walk along the lengthy boardwalk. Can get very crowded in the Summer. A very unique place to visit in the Winter. There was some snow on the boardwalk making it a bit dangerous to talk on but this is a year they had a highly abnormal amount of snow. $15 entry fee ($10 if your car has Nevada plates).
I was a bit flabbergasted after paying $10 only to find the bathrooms were closed! I think that is the case with all parks in the area during Winter. But they should at least keep the bathrooms open here if they are still going to charge a fee in the Winter.

Absolutely gorgeous. It’s a 0.5-mile loop trail near Incline Village-Crystal Bay, Nevada. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 9 min to complete.

Sand Harbour beach is located on the eastern side of Lake Tahoe in Nevada state. Water here is crystal clear and small rocks are there. Parking facility is available and entrance fee is there. Swimming and boating facilities are there.

We rented e-bikes in Incline Village and rode down the East Lake Tahoe Trail which ends up in Sand Harbor. We walked around and sat to enjoy the beautiful views of the lake. If not by bike, just pull off the road and enjoy.

Beautiful park but wow is this place crowded and many patrons leave their trash behind. These were the Californians doing it. I thought Californians were all about conservation and being mindful of the environment- well not here. Mostly enjoyed hiking the walk/ped trail. Lots of pretty scenery.

Such a serene place to visit when you’re in Lake Tahoe. Gorgeous beach surrounded by calm blue waters and mountains. Could sit there for hours without getting bored.

First trip to Lake Tahoe and won't be my last - absolutely stunning. Be ware though on hot days the boardwalks can burn you dogs feet.

Sand Harbor is so beautiful who needs the Caribbean.

My favorite place in all of Lake Tahoe. It is a must-do. But be warned - you have to get there early to get a parking spot. Then the lot closes and it doesn’t reopen until 5. We made the mistake of getting there about 9:30 on our first attempt and it was already closed.

I have seen many beautiful pics of sand harbor where there are no people in the pics and its beautiful scenery. But then I see pics where it is extremely crowded with people, beach chairs, hikers, etc. I know summer is a busy time there but I was looking to plan a trip in early summer like early June. is it still crowded there at that time? I want to go when its warm enough to swim but not so over crowded. any advice?

It is EXTREMELY CROWDED. You will NOT get in that beach unless you are there by 7:15am waiting at the entrance for it to open. I was there at 7:45 (they open at 8) and there were dozens of cars ahead of me that did not get in also. Sand Harbor opens back up at 5pm so that is when I went. Plan something other than Sand Harbor.
I’d like to visit sand harbor because of how beautiful it is. I’ve never been to this side of the US but where do you recommend to stay to be close to sand harbor. Also, where is the nearest casino resort? I want to stick close to this location. ANY recommendations would be great!!!

There is a real nice Hyatt Regency in Incline Village
It pricey but worth it
There are less expensive places in Kings Beach
Which is not to far of a drive

Depends. If Fire season/Red Flag days NO. If winter most likely. Check with North Lake Tahoe Fire District for current conditions. Typically summer and fall it’s a no. Currently no open flame fires /devices or charcoal bbq.

Can you show up before sand harbor hours and get in?

Lots of people come by boat and set up their stuff and then return when open. This year the lake is so high there’s not much beach space.
Does the parking lot still fill up early when it’s only 50 degrees at 8am? Looking at showing up about 830 next Saturday morning but what would we do for several hours until it warms up?!

Hello! I get that parking sucks on the weekends, but if I'm going on a Wed/Thurs....will parking still suck? I was thinking about going in the afternoon vs the following morning....should I just take the bus there or attempt to park? Thank you!!

During the week AFTER Labor Day parking should be ok. I still recommend getting there early. Wind picks up in the afternoon on the east/north east side of the lake.
