‪This beautiful home was originally built on the corner of California Avenue and Virginia Street. It's owners, Myron and Jane Lake owned a toll bridge built across the Truckee River near the present day New Virginia Street Bridge. The toll bridge was originally built by Charles W. Fuller in 1859 and was sold in 1861 to the Lakes. Reno was once known as Lake’s Crossing, because the bridge and a few businesses were all that one would have found here at that time. You can tour the Lake Mansion where you'll learn that it is an ornate example of the Italianate style architecture. The tour includes all the rooms on the main floor of the historic mansion as well as the wrap-around porch and the art galleries.

When we visited, guided tours we offered Fridays starting at Noon and weekdays, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

‪Beautiful old home, and Arts Center‬

‪Just south of the river, it's a beautiful old home. Now the home for a art center. Please could probably use a little bit more work. But it still looks pretty nice.‬
