This is directly across the street from the Truckee River and near the Keystone bypass. Beautiful area to walk to, and I've attended a wedding here as well. But another great reason to visit is for Feed the Camel Wednesdays' Food Truck event. Fun middle of the week event to go to.

McKinley Arts And Culture Center is vitally important to Reno/Sparks and the surrounding area. It not only is a historic building, but is the home of the Reno Philharmonic, Reno Chamber Orchestra, City of Reno Cultural Affairs Division, Masterworks Chorale, Reno Pops Orchestra, and Note-Ables. it has an auditorium and gallery spaces to help promote local artist.

This lovely building is an easy stroll from Downtown Reno along the the Truckee Riverwalk.
It is a repurposed building and what a unique and beautiful building it is. It was built as a neighborhood school in 1909 in the Mission Revival style, and was one of the "Spanish Quartet.
The building now houses the offices for the Reno Philharmonic, Reno Chamber Orchestra, Masterworks Chorale and the Notables and the office for City of Reno Cultural Arts. There is an auditorium, meeting room, classroom rooms, and art gallery.
The building is lovely and is like stepping back in time when school buildings were the pride of the community. The wood floors, tall windows, and graceful banisters are beautifully maintained.
The grounds are cool and shady and grassy. It is a great spot to sit and maybe have a picnic on a hot summer day. It is well maintained and the people and river watching is exquisite. During the summer, on Wednesday nights, the food trucks gather for a very family friendly event.
PARKING! Lots of it! There is a huge lot accessible on Jones Street just off of Keystone. There is also a small shady lot under the Keystone bridge.
Don't miss this great spot when taking a walk or riding your bike along Riverside.

Stroll along the river to the west for about a half mile through some of the oldest Reno neighborhoods. It's flat easy walk. Enjoy the shade of the large old trees and maybe a refreshing breeze.
This is converted former school. Check online to see what scheduled there. They have no permanent exhibits.

We went to the McKinley Arts and Cultural Center in Reno. We went to see this historic building, the outside sculptures, as well as to see the artist exhibits.
This is also the office building for the Reno Philharmonic and the Reno Chamber Orchestra. It also houses the Reno Cultural Affairs Division, Masterworks Chorale, the Notables and the boardroom. As such, they play a key role in many events in Reno such as Art Town, a summer art festival throughout Reno. There was a sign outside saying that the philharmonic orchestra would be playing for the 4th of July fireworks.
There is also an auditorium.
The center is in a historic school that was built in 1909 and is part of the National Register of Historic Places We also found the outside landscaping nice to see.
