If you're looking for a great small mountain with some serious variety of trails and levels of terrain Ragged is tough to beat. Their Mission Affordable season pass is the best deal in N.E. And that used to be a good thing.
Unfortunately when Ragged is busy it's just not capable of handling the volume. Most of the time it's a really great place to spend a day or two skiing. However I strongly recommend against going on Vacation weeks or Saturdays if you can avoid it. The lift lines can be very long and the trails get over skied.
For a sick day during the week, this is my favorite sweet spot for great runs, afforda le tickets and a reasonable drive.

Awesome staff ... perfect mountain for a family with different ski abilities. We are always lucky to go the week before US schools get out so not too busy!

I went there to snowboard last February and do the New Hampshire resident ski deal on Sundays. I drove over an hour from the eastern side of the state. I had a great experience about 4 years ago so i said ill try it again. I went to purchase the ticket and was told i had to buy a refill card on top of the discounted price, which wasnt advertised online. I then went to get my board tuned up and the employees in the tune shop were being rude and laughing at my board that was about 15 years old.
On top of this, the place was EXTREMELY overcrowded. I remember saying to myself " i have never seen lift lines that long." I went home and ill probably never go back.

We've been going to Ragged every year for the past almost 15 years and for the longest time it was our favorite SMALL mountain, until now.
We decided to take a family ski day about a week ago. We packed up the car and drove all the way to the mountain, excited to hit the slopes with the fresh powder and low and behold when we arrived on the property there were easily 1000 cars filling up every lot on the mountain. This was disconcerting considering the amount of trails that Ragged has, and my guess is that the mountain wasn't fully open either. We didn't give up even though the amount of cars seemed ridiculous and we tediously drove up to the main lot to take a look at the liftlines and immediately turned around. We didn't even get out of the car as several others that were already packing up (at only 9:30AM).
I've never seen a failure of mountain management on this scale before. For charging such steep prices for lift tickets, you would think that management would have a maximum mountain capacity in mind and that hopefully they would stop selling tickets at some point. But no. By overcrowding the mountain to this scale (1000+ individuals) management was basically stealing from the people who already paid for their ticket by ruining their day with 30+ min liftlines waits and over use of trails causing people to leave after just a short time on mountain.
As a person (and family) who has stayed loyal to Ragged for such a long time this really felt like a kick in the groin. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT; HUGE WASTE OF TIME. Save yourself from ruining your day and go to a mountain that either has ethical management or can handle the capacity. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Ragged was a nice little spot that would be ideal for day trippers. My wife and I were gifted a 2 day trip there and stayed at the New Hampshire Mountain Inn. We had a great time, but not a lot to do there if you’re not a snowboarder/skier (my wife). Definitely a good spot for locals to get a day trip in when conditions are good, but don’t expect resort amenities like spa, etc.

My brother lives in Massachusetts and invited my son and I up to go skiing.
At this Mountain called Ragged Never heard if it.
Well let me tell you this was the coolest little hidden treasure. There is a little something for every skill level. My 11year old son had a blast as we skied through the woods my brother impressed with his nephews skills . Hitting jumps and doing 360s okay I was bragging about my son. This mountain was a blast the employees were very nice the atmosphere was awesome
They have plans to expand the place and it will be even better. It's a small mountain but very fun!.
The high speed lifts blew me away which made it much more enjoyable.

My daughter and I went mid-week so things were not busy. The slopes were in good condition -- even though the presence of snowboarders made it pretty smooth -- and sufficiently varied for our moderate-to-advanced skill level.

This is a fabulous mountain for families. The slopes were all in great condition with snow. There were not lines. The price during the week was 2-1. The views from the top were great and there were about 40 trails open with great spring skiing. There is a terrain park. Even the expert slopes are not steep. I would not recommend for expert skiiers but families will love it. We will be back next season.

We are a New England Family but have never skied. My daughters 11 and 13 years old and myself did the Bebe program. Carol was very helpful and nice. We had lessons on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Saturday was the busiest day of course. We spent $20 each to extend our ski day after our 2 hr session each day. Every instructor was so helpful. Mike was our favorite! We all learned so much and skied by ourselves at the end of the day. I totally recommend this amazing program! Everyone on this mountain was so friendly! I just wish this mountain was closer to home:-) Lodge was what I would think would be standard. We are new to the sport so I don't have anything to compare it to. I would definitely recommend going during the week if possible. Thank you to everyone who taught us! This was a wonderful adventure and we hope to ski at least one more time before the end of the season.

Our experience with the Bebe Wood Free Learn to Ski and Ride Program was amazing. We signed out 8 year old up for 3 2 hour snowboard lessons over the long weekend. I honestly expected the worst - a large group of kids being instructed by someone that just wanted to call it a day. Instead, he was placed in a group of 6 with at least 2 instructors. They provided the right balance of one on one attention and the time to "try it on your own". Not only did he have a lot of fun, but he learned alot.

No, they cut back to nine holes about 5-6 years ago and discontinued completely a couple years ago. I believe the plan is to develop housing, and maybe a hotel as well as someday develop the third peak for skiing.
