Very well restored castle. The rooms are mainly used for exhibitions. The castle garden invites you to linger, unfortunately it rained a lot when we were there, otherwise we would have stayed a little longer.

Older visitors may have read “Blind Corner” by Dornford Yates. I think that he got some ideas for the thriller from a pre-1914 visit to this castle, for which he used the old name Wagensberg in the book, and he placed the fictional castle about 100 miles further North. There is a deep well, doubled in depth by Valvasor, and there had been severe fire damage - both are mentioned in the book.
But apart from this, the castle museum tells an amazing story, particularly about Valvasor with his scientific studies and publishing activities (he was elected FRS !) and it is worth a long visit. A rather complete booklet in English was given to me, by the way.

This small, but cute castle stands on a little hill near city Litija. The castle was first mentioned in year 1533. It has a square floor plan.
The castle has a medieval appearance. It has several museum collections,the wedding hall, park, restaurant.
We visited it three times, twice with guide. It was never crowded.
Recommended to visit it.

Bogensperk is a cute little castle, very well kept. It's clean, with gorgeous landscaping. You don't have to worry about crowds here, feel free to go there for a peaceful walk. They also do weddings and other events, if you're looking into that. Overall, I'd recommend visiting it.

I got married in that castle. So for me it is the best castle in the world! Also worth to visit just to see exhibitions inside. Or during several festivals.

This castle in in a remote location but the drive out there through the villages and county-side on winding roads is spectacular especially if you on a motorbike
Entrance fee €5.50 bargain for full access and as long as you like best of all there’s hardly anyone else there. The guide had to unlock the castle just for us
Plenty to see nearly all will English translation and a cafe bar on site for refreshments after
Top off with another fabulous trip back

Not only well preserved, but also offering a diverse exposition mostly related to J. W. Valvasor, 17th century polyhistor that lived in the castle. A useful restaurant also here and several cultural events mostly during the warmer part of the year. Beautiful nature around.

Se si è in zona è da fare assolutamente una tappa per visitare questo castello molto ben tenuto. Si possono visitare le stanze del primo e del secondo piano. Nelle prime stanze vi sono esposti i vari stemmi di famiglia delle proprietà passate del castello e al secondo piano si trova la biblioteca e stamperia di uno dei più famosi abitanti del castello e cioè die Janez Valvasor famoso intellettuale, naturalista e geografo sloveno. Molto bella anche il panorama circostante che si gode dal giardino esterno del castello.

Local guide will show you the building, furniture and explain a lot about history. Check the timetabe and arrive 5 monutes before the schedule to buy you tickets. Walking around, to the inner yard and to small park behind the castle is free. Toilettes are free, too, as the parking before the old building. You will need at least an hour in the building with your guide. Some collections, old library and an old printing press are interesting. Worth a visit. Small bar in the castle is nothing special.
