Well-stocked, charming store, with its own little cafe. All the new best sellers and selection of lesser known publications as well.

The title says it. It's large enough without being overwhelming. We ended up with several books that we hadn't seen elsewhere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Books stores for us are dangerous because we end up buying more than we plan. In that sense it's very dangerous--we had planned only to look. So check it out. Great place to spend an hour.

Keene is technically a city with a very hometown feel, and places like the Toadstool help to give substance to that. This bookstore, one of three in a local area chain, offers a nice selection of books in a comfortable browsing atmosphere. The staff is helpful, and there are occasional hosted events by writers.
In an era where physical bookstores are endangered, it's important to stop in and support these critical community institutions. It renews the spirit.
The presence of the vegetarian Farm Cafe right inside the restaurant adds to the ability to use this bookstore as a meeting place for coffee or a light bite with friends. (Its hours are more limited than the bookstore, though, so be sure to check.)

A nice local bookstore with a good selection including childrens books. They sell both new and secondhand books. IMO the secondhand ones are priced quite high so I ended up getting some marked down new books (that, was a steal!)

We go to this store often to purchase books. Very well organized and large selection. I f they don't have it they will order. Comfortable place to browse. Nice small café Often have special programs given by writers. Comfortable and helpful in every respect.

The Toadstool is the place to go to when looking for books. They have a huge assortment for every possible interest. I do miss the whimsical atmosphere from upstairs at the old Colony Mill. ☹

Yes a real bookstore run by folks who love book, a true gem of a store, they have something for everybody

This place is great! They have some unique finds. It's also very big! I didn't realize how far back the store goes! I found some great bargains. It was fun to just roam around in an actual store to find something. Their children's section is huge and in the front of the store. The rest of the store is geared toward adults with typical subjects--gardening, travel, self-help, etc. I will definitely stop by here again!

Other area bookstores have closed (including a large chain store) but The Toadstool hangs in there. Their move to their new location has given them Main St. visibility, and there's something I love about holding an actual book in your hands, even though I now read mostly on my Kindle "books" from the NH Downloadable Library. The cafe is a nice addition, and the writer appearances are fun, too.

Toadstool Bookstore is such a valuable institution in Keene. In an era of push button shopping on line it is so pleasant to go to a full service book store right in the heart of downtown. The selection is diverse and the staff is helpful and friendly. There are opportunities to eat and to meet local authors. Toadstool is an incredible resource for our community.
