The Connecticut Lakes region is beautiful and uncrowded and untouched compared to other tourist areas.
Great place to hike, with many well marked and maintained trails through woods and mountains.
Kayaking and canoeing are also popular on the three Connecticut Lakes. The Connecticut River also runs between the lakes and there are several stretches of trophy fly fishing catch and release areas that are spectacular.
Worth taking the small trail up to Fourth Connecticut Lake that straddles the Canadian border.
We saw bears and a fox in the wild during our stay, along with many kinds of birds and other wildlife.

If you find yourself in the northern extremes of New Hampshire , consider checking out the Connecticut lakes. Each one has its own picnic and viewing area.

My fishing buddy and I tried 1st, 2nd and 3rd CT Lake's, Lake Francis and Back Pond fishing from both boat and shore, spinning, trolling and fly rods with very few fish caught and nothing remarkable.....

Kayaking in East Inlet heading towards the Second Connecticut Lake is heaven. Quiet. Birds to see. Moose to watch. And we saw not a soul. Just us.

Well worth the visit to see such pristine clean lakes. Great place to bring your family and friends to enjoy fly fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, snow shoeing, snow mobiles and atvs.

The Connecticut lakes region is very remote. It was quite a drive for us but the peace and quiet was worth it. There were many parks to enjoy that were free and barely used. I felt like we had the place to ourselves! The first Connecticut lake had a beautiful park, boat launch and picnic area. We fished and swam and our dog was able to run around and play in the water.

At 62, I've wanted to see this for at least the last twenty years! I grew up in Niantic, Connecticut. Not 10 miles away was the mouth of the Connecticut River, framed between Old Lyme and Old Saybrook.
This was finally the time to go. Midsummer is the warmest time in the highest points of New Hampshire. We traveled all the way from southern Michigan to see this area. The pristine lakes are a sight to behold. Loons were teaching their young to paddle and fish. Moose romped across roads and bathed in muddy ponds. Bears leave their marks behind but, are generally afraid of the presence of man. Flowers are in full bloom. Nights are clear and low humidity makes it pleasant to breathe the forest air.
My only regret: not going sooner.

We have been going to this area every summer vacation for over 30 years. First it was a week with the kids, and we all had so much fun we stretched it into a 2 week annual vacation. It is very laid back and relaxing with not a lot of things that you have to do, but only if you want to. There is fishing, boating, hiking, atv rentals. Just a nice general outside vacation spot. If you are looking to be stimulated and run around to various places every day this may it be for you, but if you like to sit quietly by a lake and read a book or throw a rod out, or fly fish some beautiful remote areas, or check out some beautiful unspoiled scenery down some dirt roads in your truck or Jeep, this will fit the bill!!!

This saltwater lake is part of a lagoon, extending to the Arabian Sea. The beautiful trees surrounding the lake on all sides offer an excellent shade for picnic-lovers.

One day in this area, will have you hooked. The fresh air, the lakes, rivers, streams and mountains are all home to a great wild life. Fun for all, Hiking, Fishing, Hunting, Chilling and Resetting your brain ;-)

Hi it’s my first time to usa and i am alone i went to NYC for few days and now i am I Rhode island is there any local travel agencies that can take me out with a full days programs ? Since this country is realybig and i am finding troubles in transportation appreciate your support

Tall Timbers is the BEST for Breakfast and Dinner but you MUST have a reservation.
The Happy Hour Restaurant is good for all three meals, not fancy inside but it does have a large menu and prices are reasonable. For Pizza the Buck Rub Pub is good. They also have lots of other choices on the menu, casual atmosphere at reasonable prices.
There are no big grocery stores near by so bring your snacks with you.
