‪We visited and toured the Museum of Cape May County on Friday, October 26th with relatives from New Hampshire as well as our two young grandchildren. Our tour guide, Jennifer, was outstanding and extremely knowledgeable. The museum is extensive and packed with well displayed artifacts. We look forward to visiting again!‬

‪It was our last day of vacation and this museum was 5 min. away from the motel so decided to stop in. by the look of it from the outside it just looked like one of many old houses in the area.. but I was surprised by the variety of historic items of the past 150-200 years were contained in it .. You can only go in by tour guide which was very informative and knew many side stories of the people that lived there .. the tour was just over an hour and for the low fee it was well worth it. I would definitely recommend a trip there.‬

‪I visited this museum with my husband and it was fantastic. There is a small shipwreck exhibit but the true highlight was paying for a guided tour of the house and property.

A guide takes the group through the house and surrounding buildings. Exhibits are organized based on the room of the house (parlor) or themes such as medical or military. Everything seemed to be original and from the area. There were so many fantastic pieces (drum sticks from the revolutionary war, flag from the Civil War, surgical tools, embroidery samplers from the early 1800s!!) that it’s hard to describe them all. I also love that a tour is required because the experience was interactive and we learned so much more. Our guide has a great sense of humor and took the time to answer each question thoughtfully. The tour did take 1.5 hours so it wasn’t a quick stop, but definitely worth it.‬

‪What a great museum. Very knowledgeable and very nice people run the place . My family I stopped by for a tour and it was worth every penny . The place is always getting new items. You should see the lighthouse part of the tour. Can't say enough about it . We'll always come back.‬

‪Had been wanting to check out this museum for a few years, and finally went when we had friends visiting us. WOW! What a cool museum! We were all astounded by the collections. Sadly, the guide told us the state of NJ has completely cut off funding for 2018, and the County hasn't committed any funding for 2018 either. So they NEED OUR SUPPORT! Please consider visiting, joining, and donating to this museum -- it is truly a local treasure. We visited during an "open house" for the holidays, just a brief visit, and they seem to have something for everyone: fun collection of cast-iron toy banks; wonderful collection of samplers; some beautiful antique furniture; military items; fascinating photos from the African-American community in Cape May ... there must be thousands of artifacts on display. We will certainly return, I think you could easily visit this museum 2 or 3 times and learn something new each time.‬

‪ We went for the exhibit of shipwrecks. We were only asked of a donation. The exhibit was rather small but informative. ‬

‪A nice way to spend a few hours learning about the history of Cape May County. A good place to take children on a rainy day. Hours are limited, check the schedule before making plans.‬

‪My wife would like to do some family history research so we went to visit the museum and see what they had to offer. The collection spans the ages from the early 1700s to the early 1900s. The tour guide was well informed and answered a lot of our questions. My wife will be back to visit their genealogy room at some point. I would recommend the museum to anyone with an interest in the history of Cape May County.‬

‪We went to see the artifacts from local shipwrecks and learned just how many shipwrecks there are in the area. There are many exhibits ranging from whale bones to medical instruments to stage coaches. Our guide was very friendly and made our trip enjoyable. Well worth the visit, however, I would call before going to make sure they are open.‬

‪My husband suggested that we visit this museum today at is was a cloudy day here in Cape May County, and as we have lived here for 31 years and never took the time to see this attraction. I am so glad that we did!!!! Original home houses the museum with many original kept artifacts of the first owners as well as time period pieces from the county including the Fresnel Lighthouse top that was designed by the Physicist in France that was brought over by cargo ship in the 1800"s

Delightful fine for anyone visiting the South Jersey Shore and would like to learn about the history of Cape May County‬
