‪To start I would like to say that I have been camping here since I was a toddler. I remember when camp sites where 12-15 a site for the same stuff they have now. I love this camp ground and it was so posed to be my happy place it's the place I go when I'm having a bad mental day like today. I understand not wanting to refund credit but I gave you $25 then had a mental brake down. So for the other campers I went home called and asked if I could get a refund even said please in tears when I was braking down. ( On the phone not to make a seen for your office) so thank you you have ruined one of my last safe places and now I'm home one step closer to the edge thanks.👍‬

‪Beautiful way to start our camping season 2022, 2nd weekend in April. We love the easy access to the AT and all the other nearby trails. Morning coffee or evening sunset by the flowing Delaware, and falling asleep to the sound of a nearby waterfall in the mountains. I'm sure we'll be back in the Fall!‬

‪We visited Worthington State Forest to see a couple waterfalls while visiting Delaware Water Gap. It was during Hurricane Henri, so was raining most of the time, but we didn't see anyone else here. We first parked near the campground at Douglas Trailhead and hiked up along the creek to Laurel Falls and the lower waterfall. In high water they were really pretty and both within a quarter-mile of the road. A little further up the road, Big Tocks Creek Falls tumbles down right next to the road. There's no good parking, but you can pull over for a quick picture. Besides the waterfalls, there's a campground and 20 miles of trails, including the Appalachian Trail. We didn't hike too far given the weather.
Overall, a beautiful area, even in the rain and I would like to come back and explore the trails further.‬

‪I camped at Worthington during August, 2019 for two out of a planned three night stay (Friday-Sunday). I spent almost the entire weekend listening to other people’s music; Latin dance club type tunes. Added to the music was loud yelling and drunken sounding conversation able to be heard from about a hundred yards away (coming from multiple sites) all day lasting until well after midnight. Sunday, in addition to two sites in the campground, music was also coming from across the river, I believe from another public recreation area. It was so loud it could be heard in most of Worthington’s camping area. I tried visiting Smithfield Beach recreation area for a reprieve but found it to be more of the same. By that time I’d had enough and checked out of Worthington early. I was told I could not receive a refund for the third night without speaking to the Superintendant, who wouldn’t be around until six days later. I was also told I should have called the Park Police, but they probably would not have not been able to address the issues due to more serious matters in other parks; so basically don’t expect it to be handled. I’m not sure what the message was intended to be with that statement. It was a disappointing and frustrating three days of dealing with a lot of discourteous and obnoxious behavior. None of the park staff seemed to care. The only action I saw by the staff was to tell one group that was quiet and polite that they needed to pay an added fee to have an extra car parked at their site……. Ridiculous. The one positive is the great trails around the park that allowed for some nice time outside without the forced dace party, once you put in a few miles to get away from it.‬

‪We did the Garvey Springs trail. It crosses the Appliachan trail and u can follow it around the pond to saw u walked a small portion of the Appliachan Trail. The Spring is a short distance early in the trail which u could easily stop there enjoy the scenery and take some photos u could do this portion with kids. I encourage those who can to continue. U climb in elevation quickly. Wished we had more time because bi would have enjoyed walking around the entire pond before hiking back on trail. Took two hours to complete round trip with a nice break at the Springs.‬

‪Worthington campgrounds has by far been my go to spot for camping for years now. The views are great with elevated views right over the Delaware water gap. The sites along the water are real big (size of group sites compared to other campgrounds). The sites across going
towards the roads are much smaller. Still decent size for 2 tents.

Cons: the sites along the water are mostly not leveled. Not really a big deal compared to the pros about the place. And it is on a cliff type of spot so when taking kids it’s something extra to worry about.

Pros: I always hear about bathrooms and how dirty they are but I can promise you these are pretty clean. The showers also. Of course there are spiders and bugs but the place is clean and that’s what matters. Also the sites feel private for the most part there is a lot of green between sites so that you can’t even see the the people next to you. Site 20 is right out in the open but I have stayed in that one and it has not really bothered me or my wife.

The pictures are from site 18‬

‪This is a fabulous campsite. We were there in the middle of the week in July and it was pretty quiet and car traffic was minimal.

We had tent site 5 which had a lot of privacy and a view of the river. If you were willing to walk down a very steep mud path you could access the river.

Most tent sites are sandwiched between a narrow road and the river. Some are fully exposed to the road or are too close to the adjacent sites so pick wisely. There is a toilet at site 7, which is convenient for the people at 7, but think of all the foot traffic of people coming to the WC on your site.

If the campground allows RVs, we didn't see any. The tent-only section is really very quiet.

The toilets don't have running water or electricity. If you are coming with little kids, bring a potty. The shower sites have a large sink on the outside where you could do dishes, etc.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. It's clean and clearly well run.

We were with our son who is a little over 3.5 years old. I was worried that the river and the road will pose a threat but they were not a problem. The traffic was minimal - the road has a dead end at site 1. The river wasn't easy to access or fall into.

The bears you are warned about are for real. We saw one. Keep your food in the car at all times.‬

‪**Reservation process:
We went near 4th of July weekend...we reserved the campsite online about 2.5 weeks in advance...most sites were already booked but there were a handful available. The booking process was pretty straightforward, and shows you a picture of your site prior to the payment screen.

**Customer service:
We had a question about where to get firewood after hours, and they were very prompt at responding to our question by email.

**Arrival
We arrived at the campsite pretty late so the office was already closed. We were able to purchase our firewood at the local Wal-mart (~15 min away-- it's across the state line so there is a $1 toll). There's also an ACME ~20 min away (in NJ) that sells firewood. We printed out the campground map and drove down a narrow unpaved road to our campsite (labeled with posts).

**Campsite:
All sites came with a picnic table and a fire pit + overlying grill thing. Several of the sites we drove by that were in well-shaded areas were all dirt grounds. Our campsite (051) was mostly not shaded and on a large grass field. It appeared very clean and well-kept. You couldn't see the river from our site, but there was a little path that led to down by the water. After sunset, the surrounding area was very dark so we could see a lot of stars!

**Noise:
There were lots of other occupied campsites near ours with lots of activity, some were probably playing music past quiet hours, but we weren't too bothered by it. Our only issue with noise were these loud bangs from what sounded like fireworks? But they seemed to be coming from across the river, so probably out of the control of the park, and probably unique to the fact that we were there near July 4th.

**Amenities:
There was a set of bathrooms, showers, and large sink within walking distance. They were about as clean as you'd expect a basic campsite facility to be-- nothing glamorous, a few insects crawling around, with that public bathroom smell, but definitely maintained. Showers had hot water and decent water pressure. Bathrooms always had toilet paper. There were 4 showers and 4 toilets so sometimes had to wait.

We checked in the next morning at the office. They had several info pamphlets about the local wildlife and things to do, and also firewood for sale (similar price to our Wal-mart firewood, but much better quality). It looked like you could also rent kayaks from the office...we didn't realize this so had booked a canoe trip with a local place (Edge of the Wood Outfitters).

When we checked out, there was a dumpster by the exit that we were able to unload our trash into.

**Wildlife:
Some other reviews mentioned encounters with bears, and they certainly had signs up all over warning about bear safety, but we did not encounter any during our weekend. There were also signs about Lyme disease. There are definitely ticks, although none of us were bitten. We otherwise encountered birds, groundhog/gopher/woodchuck (I don't know which one it was), bunnies. There were some harmless but BIG daddy long legs, and a variety of other insects. Mosquitoes usually love me, but I surprisingly didn't get destroyed despite wearing shorts and often forgetting my bug spray.‬
