Larry Doby exhibit but the exhibit does not show all the facts. Larry played baseball while in high school for a team sponsored by my father- Uncle Sam’s. He actually played on a team with Lou Costello. The games were played at Hinchcliff Stadium where Larry was seen playing and was signed by the Newark Eagles. Being young Larry played as Larry Walker. Lou would announce the games and started “Who’s On First “ at the stadium.

Amazed that so much happened historically in Paterson. Nice little museum. My family owned part of the Great Falls a century ago, so it was very interesting to me. I enjoyed the mineral collection there also.

Parking is free in the museum lot. The museum is small and can easily be completed in an hour. Nice display of the city's historical medical supplies.

A visit to Paterson Great Falls NHP is not complete without also visiting this enjoyable museum just two blocks from the falls. Located in one of the many 19th century warehouses that line the Passaic River in the area of the falls, this free museum covers hundreds of years of area history. There are informative displays covering the indigenous people who were the original inhabitants of the area, Alexander Hamilton, the locomotive and textile industries that flourished in the 1800's, and the connections that Paterson industry had to Charles Lindbergh and to the manufacture of the first modern submarine. There are also unexpected gems such as a display of early 20th century pharmaceuticals, a section of steel beam from one of the World Trade Centers, and a small tribute to Lou Costello, one of Paterson's famous native sons. The museum has ample parking but it is also just a few blocks from the parking area for the falls. Staff was very friendly and helpful. While there is no charge for admission, donations are gladly accepted.

Paterson has so much American history to share, 300 years of it--the Totawas, the Dutch, the English, General Washington, the locomotives, the Colts, the silk mills, those Swedish and Polish and Italian immigrants and African Americans up from the South, who built so much of the city. This is the city after which our great American poet, William Carlos Williams wrote his epic of America and called it, simply, Paterson. The city too of that iconic Beat poet, Allen Ginsburg. Take in the museum, then listen to the patois of languages on the streets, and think of Adam Driver in that 2016 film of the same name, then take some time to view the Great Falls as they crash into the chasm below.

The Paterson Museum is an impressive little museum right by the Falls and it tells the history of the City of Paterson. I was pretty impressed by the displays of Indian artifacts, the fire and police equipment, the history of the Silk Industry and the display on native son, Lou Costello. There is a little bit of everything here.
The museum will take about an hour to really look it over and there are displays in every corner of the museum. The best part is that there is free parking and the museum is free.

The Paterson is good, comprehensive museum, about the history of the industries, which were in Paterson, NJ. The museum is actually housed in a former railroad parts factory. Trains, textiles, air travel, submarines, nurse-training, pharmaceutical, and things related to putting out fires are all well represented in this museum, as well as the Native American history (Lenape), and an exhibit on Lou Costello, who was born in Paterson.

Paterson is not only a town to hang out to eat, shop or go to parks. It has a history behind its "Silk City" appellative... And it's very rich, this museum tells you about the first citizens and even what "Passaic" means and where the word comes from.

A lot of history is on display. In fact the place could be much bigger. Located a block from the Great Falls it is easy to get to. Parking is limited and poorly designed and the displays need much more interptive signs but it is still not to be missed if you visit the National Park of which it is a part. It is also worth going just for the museum. I garantee you will enjoy it or I will refund your admission!! ( admission is free)
