I've been going to Pt. Pleasant beach since I was a little girl in the 60's. I brought my kids in the 80's and 90's and last year I brought my grandchildren. But it's just not the same. From all the restrictions of what you can bring on the beach (I mean exact measurements of your cooler??) to the water itself. We rented a house for the week and thankfully they had a pool in the backyard because you literally could not go in the water. We were there the second week of July and while Pt. Pleasant has always had some rough waves, these were simply deadly. There is a huge drop off now and the power of the waves and the pull of the water made it impossible to even just stand near to get your feet wet. The kids couldn't even play near the water so unless you're interested in spending the day on the beach with nothing to do but chase your kids away from the water, don't bother. The lifeguards seemed like they could care less about who was near the water or struggling to get away from it. These are not the lifeguards of yesteryear that's for sure. They were on their cell phones and not watching what was happening right in front of them. I could barely hang on to my grandson and try to maintain my balance. No one was in the water, but of course they don't tell you that when they're charging you a small fortune to go onto the beach. The boardwalk isn't the same either, dirtier, louder, the staff aren't as polite or helpful as they used to be. It's just not the family friendly place of years ago. Bathrooms were very dirty as well. So very sad to see one of my favorite childhood memories slip through the cracks. On the plus side, the fireworks are always great, it's near some of our favorite restaurants (Shrimp Box, Wharfside, Jack's) the kiddie rides and arcade were a hit with the little ones.

It's not as nice as other nearby beaches but the cost for everything from food to beach access is inexplicably higher. The boardwalk is a wasteland with very little to do. Bad, loud music and expensive carnival games.

We didn't actually go to the beach. $30 for parking and $14 per person just to get to the sand was too much for us. I've been to many beaches where there is a charge for parking but never a touch the same charge as well -- and I used to live in California and Maine.

Love the NJ shore and this destination is one of the northern beach spots in NJ.
The boardwalk has a few restrictions yet tons of fun for all ages and groups.
Great entertainment up and down Jenkinsons and fireworks on Thursdays in the summer.
Always plenty to enjoy here.

This used to be a great place for families. Clean, safe, family friendly. I took my family to the boardwalk Saturday early evening. It was overrun with young adults just hanging around smoking pot. They jammed up the boardwalk and you had to push your way through them. The police did nothing to discourage it. I felt afraid, and left. They have let this once beautiful beach community to to crap!

I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Point Pleasant, NJ. I'm originally from New Jersey but now I live in Pennsylvania, and I always look forward to going to this beach every year. We arrive by 9am to get a parking spot only minutes from the boardwalk. Parking this close is expensive on holidays, it costs us $35 on regular days and $50 on holidays for the day. But we don't mind paying so we don't have to carry our stuff too far. We also always rent chairs for $15 and umbrellas for $10.
The ocean can be very rough, and the lifeguards let people go into the water even when it's very dangerous, as we learned. My 6 years old grandson and I were standing on the sand watching the big waves breaking, far from the water. We looked away for a few moments from watching the waves when the next thing we felt was being swept away by a crashing wave. I saw my grandson sliding into the ocean when a couple came to the rescue and pulled him out. While they were pulling him out the wave threw me into the sand and I didn't know which way was up or down. The same couple, after they got my grandson to safety came to help me. It took two people to pull me out of the water. The ocean was pulling me back while the couple was pulling me out. Still, no lifeguard came. Only after I was out of the water, still shaking, a lifeguard came to see if I was okay. We were not planning to go into the water, this was an accident, but there were people in the water who seemed to enjoy being in the swirling water. It was really irresponsible of the guards to let people go into the water. This experience won't stop us from going back to Point Pleasant beach, but we will make sure to stay very far away from the water's edge because you never know when a wave will come to get you even when you are just standing on sand. Be careful when near the water's edge of the Atlantic ocean up north! It's very different from the one in the south.
There are open showers near the entrance of the boardwalk, and people are not bashful about clearing sand from their bathing suits any way they can. There are bathrooms near the boardwalk as well but the line can be long. The bathrooms are okay, but don't expect an attendant cleaning it very often.
Now about the boardwalk. Our favorite place is the crapes place. You can choose from many toppings for your huge crape. It is so big you can share it with 3 people. The French fries are amazing, you can relax at the Tiki Bar, visit the Aquarium with kids… and of course you can't skip playing skeeball. There are many souvenir shops, arcades, and kiddie rides. The entire boardwalk is just one big amusement park. You can keep your car parked where you left it in the morning and walk to nearby restaurants away from the boardwalk.
Don't expect a refined crowd, it is a melting pot of people which makes people watching so much fun! You can sit on one of the benches eating ice cream and just watch. Just go, you'll love it!

It is a very beautiful place, pleasant to spend moments of recreation alone or with someone, enjoying the sea in its splendor.

Pathetic beach. All the management is sitting too loot you. They will not give you information and will and will charge you younfortune. The beach manger guy name Joe or whosoever he should be fired .. he thinks he owns the beach … 13 $ per person and they will not let you touch water after 5 pm and let you use chairs … go to Sandyhook it’s very nice beautiful and clean water ..:

Fishing at the Manasquan / Point Pleasant inlet is always a good place to spend a day. There are so many spectacular boats to watch that even if fishing is slow you can enjoy the scenery. Did catch a bunch of flounder but they were all undersized and had to go back in and grow up!
Point Lobster Company took over a bar on Rte. 35 in town and is a good place to eat dinner. The beach requires passes and they are now 13.00 for the day. Kind of a ripoff.
If you have kids the pier is a good place to take them for mini-golf, rides, and games.
Still a fun place to visit.

They gave 1 star because of the POLICE and the SCAM they’re running. They are WAY TOO STRICT and the ticketing is INSANE. During my few hours there I saw more people getting ticketed, searched, and pulled over than I have in my ENTIRE LIFE. They only want to make money and it’s SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!
My niece and nephew had a wonderful time on the boardwalk and amusement park and I’m grateful for that but the mayor and police should be ASHAMED. WILL NOT BE RETURNING. If I could give zero stars I would.

Mire que cobran $12 por entrada a la playa, pero es por persona ese precio o por grupo de personas?

I stayed at the Driftwood motel. It had a private beach so I didn’t use any Jenkinson’s beach facilities. It says on the site that the bathhouses are closed as of June 13th. Here is the Name of the site Jenkinson's beach/hours-info/ Here is a phone number you can try tel:7328920600
Good luck and have fun.

We went last year but couldn't find the shower (despite asking several employees). Where was the parking lot with the showers? (If you can give me a cross street that would be so appreciated!) Thanks!
كُتب بتاريخ 18 أغسطس 2019
The parking lot is located at the intersection of Broadway & Ocean Ave. I think it is on the Northeast corner of the intersection. Diagonally across from Strollo’s Lighthouse Italian Ice.

MY family & I go during the week when it is not crowded. Weekday beach tags are $9 for adults, $3 for kids & kids 5 & under are free. We park at the public parking lot located at Broadway & Ocean ave. Parking is $10 during the week. The bath house is located at this parking lot. There is no charge to use the showers.
