‪The posted visitor hours near highway 75 show there are none on the weekend...
The "museum" is obviously never open at all, as the insides are clearly gutted and look to have been converted to storage.
I did not see any buffalo in the fields on the drive up or back.‬

‪We visited the Pueblo for their St Lawrence festival. If you like “real” Indian culture this is fantastic. It’s not put on for tourists. We attended mass in the ~300 year old church, watched the men and women do traditional dances, foot races, and pole climbing. ‬

‪We visited on their feast day. Pretty scenery and it was interesting to see how the pueblo area was laid out. We spent more than an hour almost two, looking and buying from native artists that were lined up with vendor tents. It was crowded and we didn't know where to go so we waited around the center pole where everyone was sitting and waiting. We felt a little lost and confused; didn't know who to talk to. We left after almost 3 hours without seeing any dancing or other events.‬

‪Buffalo watching was enjoyable. Big to small... the interaction was incredible. Plus we took a short drive through the pueblo up to the small lake (pond). ‬

‪Thank you Picuris Pueblo! We were in Tres Ritos for vacation and wanted to go to Mass. They told us they were holding Mass in the Picuris Pueblo that Saturday night. So, we went. What a wonderful experience. Everyone so very welcoming and nice. The priest was leaving and being assigned to another church and the pueblo was having a dinner for him. We were invited to the dinner. All I can say is OH MY! It was awesome, the food was so good and the people were just so very nice. We go back each year and attend mass but it is in a different church each time. That is one of the Best experiences I have ever had!
Thank you Picuris Tribe!‬

‪One of my biggest pleasures in N NM is driving aimlessly finding things of interest to photograph. Don't try to photo on the pueblo without a 15.00 per camera permit. I checked in the tribal office prior to getting camera in hand and the young woman at the desk was quite inconvenienced by my questions when she was chatting with another worker, who couldn't even smile. Nice church but not worth the unfriendliness of the staff or the 15.00. Glad I went, don't have to return. The herd of buffalo roadside were nice to watch for awhile, magnificent creatures.‬

‪We had been touring around the area trying to photograph some of the missions we picked from a book. We had some less than desirable light but tried anyway. We stopped to pay at the museum but it was closed up and no one answered when I knocked so we walked a few feet over to the mission. In fact there was no one around in sight. It was near dinner time but whatever, I don't mind paying these indigenous persons if I can take some pictures. It is a little out of the way.

Not much out here. Worth the trip if you want to catch a bit of history for a few minutes...‬

‪We stopped in the gallery while we were doing the High Road to Taos art tour, which is the last two weekends of September. We were amazed to find such sophisticated, beautiful art that was so masterfully executed. We then discovered Ms. Marx is owed by big name collectors in both private and corporate worlds. Would highly recommend the High Road to Taos art tour, a beautiful drive when the weather is good and this gallery in particular. The gallery is located almost across the street from Sugar Nymphs. The website is posted below, but at the time of this review only shows jewelry. Ms. Marx's contemporary art is original, unusual, yet would fit with and complement almost any setting.‬

‪I find it hard to rate Picuis Pueblo, but I would like to say that Picuris can be quite enchanting. The August 10th Feast Day is a smaller and more intimate experience as compared to the larger Feast Days at many of the other Pueblos. The Christmas Eve bonfires are, likewise, smaller in scale than those at Taos Pueblo. This can be wonderful if you are looking for a less crowded ceremonial event! My husband is confined to a wheelchair, and while none of the New Mexican Pueblos are very easy to visit, we do enjoy watching the bonfires at Picuris, which are defintely more accessable for us than the big event at Taos. Picuris also runs the Hotel Santa Fe, in Santa Fe, which is a great place to grab a bison burger and enjoy flute music in the lounge on Friday and Saturday nights, although it's a bit pricey to stay and eat at the full-service restaurant for me. The on site restaurant and museum have not been open in a while, but when they were, my husband and I used to go frequently. I've never felt threatened at the Pueblo at all and find it sad that someone else did. Picuris can be quite enchanting, in it's own Hidden Valley, quiet sort of way.‬
