This park was voted best State Park in the U.S. Admission was $5.00 per car. The Genesee River runs through this gorge and there are three beautiful waterfalls in the
first six miles from the South entrance. The park is seventeen miles long but the first six
are the best to make the most of your time. We stayed in Olean NY in a Best Western
about an hours drive from the park. The Park is commonly referred to as the Little
Grand Canyon of the Eastern US. You can picnic in the groves or there are restaurants in
the Park as well. There is a museum. near the entrance that explains the history of the
park which was donated to the State by Mr. Letchworth. About fours to six hours will get
you through everything worth seeing. The museum had a Wolly Mammoth skull that was
found during construction at its inception. The skull is intact with two giant tusks that curl
back and is quite impressive.

We could see the falls from the air plane on our way into Rochester New York. We made sure that we went to see it in person. It did not disappoint. It is a state park and I believe the drive in the park was 17 miles. We were able to drive up to the area where the falls are and park and get out to see the beauty. It said it had several hiking trails, but we werent there to hike. I would recommend this to any and all families to go visit. It was pretty amazing!

We drove right up to Glen Iris Inn, which is right by the middle falls, parked, unpacked in our private room & went hiking. There’s no fee to enter park if your staying at the inn.
Not crowded, gorgeous view during the night and day. Grounds are clean . Museum is informative. There’s also a gift shop in the inn, a restaurant with great food. A seperate store & info center on the trail by lower falls. Absolutely gorgeous views & canyons,falls.

Beautiful falls, nice hiking paths and April is a slow time so few people. It was cool and some of the walkways were not yet open as well as some of the restrooms, plan accordingly. They need so additional signage and update on the info boards as they were faded and not readable. This is the first park that I have seen to have a porta potty for wheelchairs

it has upper, middle, and lower falls, the falls are beautiful, worth to see all of them, there is also a Humphrey nature center, there are lots of exhibits inside, worth to visit as well. we need to pay $10 parking fee in the state park.

We drove almost 2 hours in the snow to see this place. Even though top and bottom of the falls were closed due to weather, place was beautiful. Worth the drive for sure! Would love to see this in a bit winter season!

This place is absolutely beautiful. Didn't get to see the whole park because of a thunderstorm but if you like taking a beautiful walk in nature this place is it

Didn't even know this existed until I stayed a week at the local KOA. Wow-- beautiful and so far above what I was expecting. I want to come back to this area if nothing else to explore more of this park because I didn't have nearly enough time as I work during the week. The local KOA is also spot on (see my review for that also).

Letchworth can be experienced in a car, gentle walks, or hikes. The three waterfalls are the star attractions (upper is most photogenic, middle was our fav, the hike to get to lower is pretty). But there are plenty of other things to explore. There is some food in the park, in case you forgot. Find some picnic benches next to the falls for a really memorable lunch.

We had perfect weather for a nice fall hike. One thing to note if meeting people at the park is that you will have no phone signal most of the time. I would suggest meeting at the north end where there is plenty of parking and then setting out from there with your group - otherwise it is nearly impossible to contact those you are trying to meet up with.

Parking with a camper but NOT staying at the campground. My family will be on a road trip with our RV and would love to stop at this park on our way from Niagara Falls to Lake George. We’ll only be in the park a couple hours, so a campsite is not needed. Is there ample parking for a truck + 43’ camper in the parking lots, specifically near the Portageville entrance?

I honestly don’t know & don’t want to guess. Definitely call the park. Their super nice, I’ve spoken to them before we left. Have a great trip.

Yes you can drive to the park and through the park. It’s a really beautiful place to enjoy the day. You can visit the little “grand canyon “, waterfalls, the rangers, and the dam. There are numerous trails to hike also. As far as how long does it take to get to the park, I don’t know where you’re located. However, if you mean how long to drive around the park, that’s really up to you because of all the stops you can make. I hope you have a great time when you go to this park!!

Hello, can anyone give me information about the campground at Letchworth? Are the sites very private, and how are the bathrooms/showers? We camp with a popup and prefer electric sites - can anyone recommend specific sites?

They're are several camp sites and yes they are mostly private.

What address do I use in my GPS for the campground inside Letchworth State Park. I see 2 different addresses when I google it.

I used the "1 Letchworth State Park" address and it took me 2 miles outside of the park in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately, there was a sign directing us to the Castile entrance which is about 12 miles away from the campground. I still don't have an address for the campground but the Perry entrance to the park brings you straight to the campground entrance.

Are the hiking trails mostly wooded? Shaded? Or are they sunny? Don’t want to be too hot.

most of the trails have shaded areas to walk . very pleasant in shade under trees. we went in the evening after 5 as its nice cooler and also its free entrance to the park. the first day we went for the day . entered at 9.00 am till 6mpm. was super. do go to the glen iris inn. restaurant . has excellent food. we are vegetarians but we got what we liked. the drive from the main entrance to the actual hiking area is a long drive. but once inside its nice to walk around.

the rim trail along the west side of the canyon is pretty easy

Depending on what direction you are coming in from, Route 11 brings you through the St. Helena Picnic Area and into the "Castile Entrance", closest to the Lower Falls. From the other direction take Route 19A to the "Portageville Entrance", closest to the Upper Falls.
