I’m not a huge fan of day-trips, but this one really amazing! First of all, the ferry ride to the castle is beautiful! The driver of the boat was very friendly and we had a great time. Getting of the boat was very easy and we were greeted by a very enthusiastic and friendly tour guide. Walking around the island and seeing the castle is so beautiful. The gardens are really a site to be seen and getting the whole history of the castle and the island is super cool. At the top of the island you can go inside a old house were people once lived! They have a few little shops/venders near the house and they also have bathrooms on the island. It was a truly great experience and I would recommend it!

This is a very nice trip during fall. You will see great views of Hudson river and a small but beautiful island with castle ruins, owner's residence, and several trails. Allow half a day.

Our group of 11 was visiting Beacon for a birthday and this was a morning well spent! The boat ride was scenic and gorgeous and learning about Bannerman history was so engaging. Thank you for the hospitality and Adam did an amazing job with our guided tour. Would 1000% recommend :)

What an amazing experience. I went with my 11 year old son and we loved it. The ferry ride was great; the crew was nice and funny. The tour of the castle was amazing. The tour lady was extremely knowledgeable and made it fun. We loved everything about it.

Great day at Bannerman. Captain Justin and Marie did a great job onboard. Cannot say enough about our tour guide Wes. What a great guy. Full of information, funny, and really loves what he does. We lucked out with perfect weather. We will be back again next summer to explore more of their events. Really unique place.

Very unfortunate that Bannerman Castle doesn’t give refunds or exchanges.
So, better not get sick or have any type of emergency , because you’ll be out of money and out of luck.

Wonderful boat ride with fantastic crew to a beautiful island. Definitely wear shoes for moderate hiking to be able to explore. Tour guide was also great. Next time I want to try the dinner or kayak trip.

A nicely organized tour back into the past. Very educational. John, our boat captain, had a great sense of humor. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Terrain of the foot paths was somewhat rocky for those not so sure footed. Wear "hiking" shoes/boots if possible. So sorry the fall foliage was muted due to the summer drought. A wonderful day overall.

I had a lovely time at Bannerman Castle back in late Spring! From the transportation to the walking tour, everything ran smoothly. Wes, our guide, was very informative, thorough and entertaining. He knows the place well and has a great sense of humor. He even recommended books to read at the end of the tour if people were interested in learning more about Bannerman Castle or other topics related to New York.
I certainly recommend going to Bannerman Castle. It is well worth the price of admission and makes for a perfect daytrip from NYC on the Metro North train.

Excellent guided tour at the island! The historical information was intriguing, well presented with pertinent photographs and well paced for plenty of time to take a self-guided tour of the summer home and walk areas of the island not covered. The boat ride to and from the island was a quick 30 minute ride. The Captain and "first mate" were curteous, competent and knowledgeable about the Hudson and the sites along the way. I have taken many guided tours in the U.S. and I found the unique history about Bannerman and his castle one of a kind. Efforts to preserve what is left should be high on NY state's tourism radar.

What's the best way to book a tour to Bannerman Castle? From their website? I also saw a MTA deal says to call to make a reservation then buy the package deal from any metro north ticket vending machine. Has anyone tries that?

No, it is owned by New York State but operated by a private trust. It is only available by private tour, it is $35. You can park at the beacon train station and take the ferry which is part of the tour.

So sorry I just saw this now...actually it isn't handicap accessible..there also is a lot of slight uphill climbing...there are tree roots to look out for too...hope that helps

It is a 2 1/2 hour excursion, kids are 11 and under so you would have to pay adult prices. The cost of the tour is $35 per adult.Saturday and Sunday at 11:00am and from the Beacon, NY ferry dock each Saturday and Sunday at 12:30pm are the times. If you want you can call ahead to make a reservation call Zerve at: 845 834-4200 locally or Toll Free at 855 256-4007.

This is not a hotel, this is a historic site and tour. It's an old abandoned castle on an island and in it's current state it cannot be slept in. They are working on restoring so maybe one day. The tour was $40 when i took it. They are closed in winter. The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls is a hotel option in the area (845) 765-8369 as is the Swann Inn at Beacon (845) 831-6346 and the Quality Inn which is the next town Fishkill (845) 897-9300. It's recommended to use a car service from Newark rather than a taxi. charges $44. Tolls will add ~ $10 and a tip of 15-20% of the base fare will make the trip in a regular sedan cost ~ $60-65. Prices could have increased since the last time I went. You can call and give an estimate.
