‪Wonderful Day Hike‬
زوجان • أغسطس 2020
‪One of the most scenic hikes I’ve done in the Adirondacks in quite some time. The east side is spectacular (with some dangerous sections- not really for kids). The west wide is less so, but would be good for mountain biking. The whole loop was about 8 miles and it took us 3 hours. Not much change in elevation but the total distance made it delightfully strenuous. Happy we did it- amazing scenery!‬

‪Nice way to spend a summer afternoon.‬
يوليو 2019
‪We visited the museum in Colton Ny. The small museum has some interesting items on display. The lady there was very helpful and friendly. She told us a bit about the trail. We decided to walk along part of the trail on the east side of the river. We stopped at a spot where there were people on the rocks in the water. We swam and played for a while. The trail is easy to find and there is parking at the trail head.‬

‪The Hike of Stunning Photo Ops‬
الأصدقاء • أكتوبر 2018
‪Stone Valley Trail is simply one of the best hiking trails in the North Country. You can hike on either side of the river and enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls and vistas of the rushing river, particularly in the spring. At any time of year, yes including winter when you can access on snowshoes, there are beautiful surprises. The autumn with the colorful foliage is also one of my favorite times to take a hike. You can choose to go from either the south end or the north end or make a round trip for a healthy day hike. Take a camera, good hiking shoes (or snowshoes in winter), some snacks and water, or a hearty lunch. There are lovely places to sit beside the river and just relax, listen to the water, the wind and open your eyes to take in the power and beauty of the Racquette River. ‬

‪Great trail!‬
العائلة • سبتمبر 2017
‪There are a lot of options on this trail - a full 7 or so mile loop, out and backs, O'malley area, etc. I often just like doing short out and backs for the great views of the water rushing down through the rocks. and the dam releases the kayakers attend aren't to be missed! A long time favorite I revisit whenever I'm in town. ‬

‪This is a really beautiful hike in Colton. When you start the hike it does not look so great, but once you cross the metal bridge and start down into the gorge it is fabulous!!!‬

‪Extraordinary Gem‬
العائلة • مايو 2017
‪We had time to kill and wanted take a walk. We have hiked trails all over and we really loved it here! We were very sad to only spend one hour at the park. The trails were so well maintained. The river and falls we truly awe-some. The woods were beautiful. We were quite blown away. Even if my daughter doesn't choose St Lawrence U we want to come back and spend a couple days exploring this extraordinary gem.
Couple notes. The fire house is on Main Street just over the bridge. There is parking there as well as some parking downhill at the trail head. We did see some poison ivy so be aware. And mosquitoes is were definitely out. Enjoy!!!!‬

‪Hike here and enjoy‬
أبريل 2017
‪This hike is beautiful. The trail is on both sides of river so you can hike several miles if you desire lots of beauty. If you want my ideal, start at Lenny Road trail head and walk to Colton. The waterfalls get more and more beautiful as you walk. 3 miles one way.

‪Naturally beautiful river‬
أغسطس 2015
‪This is a wonderful, relatively easy hike, especially nice in summer and fall. You can park near the fire station in Colton and begin the downhill walk. There are a few signs pointing out highlights, and the trail is fairly well-maintained. Be sure to bring water and wear comfortable shoes. It is not too strenuous for a moderately-fit person. If so inclined, you can climb down to the water, always watching out for rapidly rising currents. At certain times, there are kayak races, but at other times, the water is low, exposing lovely rock formations and the effects of erosion (great round holes carved into the rock by other rocks). You can do a big loop, bring a picnic lunch, or go as far as you like and head back to the trailhead. It is pleasantly shady, and a great place to take visitors (or yourself) in search of some natural beauty.‬

‪Great fall hike.‬
العائلة • أكتوبر 2015
‪This was a great hike to do on a beautiful fall day. We had limited time, so we did an out and back hike totaling just over 4 miles. I felt that we saw a good portion of what the river had to offer. We parked near the fire station on Riverside Drive in Colton which is on the east side of the river and hiked north. There were several viewpoints along the way and places where you could walk out on the rocks to view up and down the river. There are signs all over the place warning of fast rising water, so just be careful. The water was flowing really fast and there was one particular area with some amazing potholes worn into the side of the rock. Very cool. Just a great hike with fantastic fall foliage. We cut it short, but you could make a loop trail by going up one side of the river, crossing a bridge, and coming back the other.

I would recommend printing off a map from Potsdam.edu. It has points of interest indicated on it. There are signs posted at these points which show you where you are and give you a little information.‬

‪Walk in the Park‬
زوجان • يوليو 2015
‪This series of trails along the racquette river in Colton, NY provides an excellent hiking experience. The total distance from one end to another is about 4-5 miles (3 miles as the crow flies) Some up and down trails along the river but nothing too strenuous. Trail marking could be better, but even inexperienced hikers can eventually find their way if they miss a turn. Good exercise if that's what you're after. Great views of a fast moving river if you like that.‬
