‪Beautiful, peaceful shrine!‬
مايو 2019
‪My husband and visited here in May 2018. When we got out of the car on a beautiful, sunny, cool spring day, we immediately were overwhelmed with a great sense of peace. I absolutely loved the afternoon we spent here. The grounds are beautiful and we spent a lot of time walking up the hill, walking around the stations of the cross, reading all of the plaques, and hiking across the street and down into the ravine by the stream and forest. We loved the informative little museum about St. Isaac Jogues (and his companions St. Rene Goupil and John de la Land) and St. Kateri Tekakwitha. The coliseum church is filled with symbolic meaning; make sure you read all about it while you are there. We did not get to attend a Mass there, but we spent time in prayer there. We loved our time at this shrine.‬

‪Beautiful place! Amazing experience for our family‬

‪This place is simply breathtaking! The Coliseum is so inspiring. Knowing that you are on the grounds where St. Kateri was born and the others were martyred is so powerful. The kids loved doing the large stone rosary. The whole place is just so peaceful, you can't help but feel something is special is going on there. The one suggestion I have would be to have maps of the grounds. We were there at 4:00 so no one was there to ask for help and we couldn't find the trails in the woods we had hoped to see.‬

‪Peaceful, Holy Place‬

‪My mother and I recently returned to visit a favorite Shrine. A day trip for us, it is drivable from home and on the site of a 17th century Mohawk village. The large coliseum style church has many statues as well as the statues on the grounds. Altars and statues are dedicated to 4 Auriesville Martyrs and St. Kateri Tekakwitha. Marble medallions set on each side of the main entrance have Native American symbols. It is rich in symbolism representing the 72 disciples and 12 apostles. A smaller, humbler church is not far and Stations of the Cross. The grounds are peaceful and welcoming. There is a museum with much to see explaining the history and the devotion shown over the years by many- faithful Catholics and others. There is a variety of items available at the gift shop affordably to anyone. We return every year if possible.‬

‪An Inspiring Place‬

‪We live only about 1/2 hour from this place, and somehow didn't know about it, until a friend asked spontaneously to ride over. It is a beautiful place, even the dreary weather today could not overshadow its beauty. We are Christians, and while the grounds are decidedly Catholic with statues and the like, we could not help but feel awed at what god did here. We will return on a better day and go to the ravine and explore the many paths.‬

‪My Favorite Place on Earth‬

‪I can't put into words how much this place means to me. What I call my conversion to become a much deeper and real Catholic happened here in 2014.

My mother was cured of a flesh eating disease after I came here to pray. She was on her death bed in the Hospital, and now is at home 65% back to her good ol self.

When something like that happens in your life, it wakes your Faith up quite a bit. These grounds are where that happened to me and my family; but the story behind what makes these grounds so special is even better.

I promise you'll feel peace on these holy grounds as soon as you arrive. Enjoy the nature, enjoy the stories, enjoy the stations, enjoy the very unique churches with their relics, enjoy the museums, and most importantly visit the Ravine.

May God Bless You abundantly and bring you ever more closely into his very real and true presence. Peace be with you. - Adam‬

‪This shrine is awe-inspiring place, it has a huge coliseum with many statues of saints, Mary, and Jesus in it. Looks like it seats over 5000 people. I learned that three Jesuit Priests died there. It is also known as the National Shrine of the North American Martyrs. It's also the birth place of St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native American saint. The grounds were very peaceful. Enjoyed this visit very much.‬

‪I stopped here on the way to visit relatives. I only wish that I had more time to walk around and explore this amazing shrine. The views were breath taking and the entire grounds were so peaceful. It took all negative thoughts, anxieties, or lifes problems out of my mind for the hour that I was there. The rotunda is a must see with the altars and statues. I plan to visit sometime for a Mass there. Also walking the seven sorrows of Our Lady was a highlight for me, I pray this devotion and have never seen it on the scale that it was here. There is so much to see give yourself at least a few hours. I wish I had had more time to visit but was happy for the time I did have.‬

‪Renovations really improve this peaceful, holy place‬

‪This place is also known as the Shrine of the North American Martyrs. A trip across Upstate NY, from Albany west to Syracuse, Rochester or Buffalo, should include a stop here. You can see the coliseum from the NY State thruway. Sacred grounds dotted with historical markers, chapels and statues, tell the story of the first missionaries in New York and their struggle to spread the Catholic faith. This is also understood to be the 1656 birthplace of the Mohawk maiden and first cannonized Native American Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. Mass schedules can be found online. This is a popular pilgrimage site.‬
